10,000 Bonus Points With New OnePath/ANZ Life Insurance

Your looking at $5 a month per policy, not $100 over two months, it makes a difference to the value proposition. And in a lot of cases it's tax deductable.

Agreed, although $100 was just a nice round figure plucked from nowhere. But $5 per month? I've been gypped! The cheapest income insurance policy that I could find is costing $12.95 per month - and it's news to me if I'm in a high-risk profession. Ah well, I'm happy with a return of 10K points for the outlay.

My take is that they have come up with this offer and they think it will be a success for them... even the people that take it out for only a short period might forget and keep paying it, i have taken out gym memberships by the month and ended up paying like 6 months and visited it only like 3 times etc... or they might take it out and think later it makes perfect sense and keep it...

anyway, they are the terms and conditions they have devised and think will profit them and make them lots of money, i am not breaking any rules just receiving what they are offering and i know it will profit me... its not often that the little guys get a break while the big companies make money all the time...

And I agree with you,however

If I take out an income protection policy today based on my current occupation, pay the required premium,be awarded the bonus points then cancel the policy in 2,or even 6 months then I am not breaking the T&C's so it doesn't matter who reads this thread-I will not have done anything wrong.

Cheers
N'oz

I am no expert but I believe some people posting on here have not taken the policy using their actual occupation- instead they have opted for the cheapest premium. To me this could be significant in the case of disputes

Indeed as the insurance companies risk is estimated based on it.

Supplying false information would no doubt give them grounds to rescind their offer if they desired to.

I have not applied yet...but I assume somewhere in the process you had to attest to the data that you supplied being accurate.

Whether they would check over 10,000 points is moot. 1,000,000 is probable.

That will be a possible issue as I alluded to in a previous post, however you can get premiums down to very reasonable costings by using the lower payout figures and longer waiting times etc, so there is no need to be creative.

I wouldn't play god and cut corners over a dollar or two. Accidents do not come knocking on our door politely so lets do a fair deal and properly qualify for the insurance coverage eventhough our main aim is to get the 10,000 bonus points and cancel the policy after 2 months. We may not think that we need it now but if we do in fact need it a month down the track and later found out that the policy is cancelled because we tried to save $2/month on a life insurance, we could potentially miss out on a $50,000 benefit payment.

hmm.. I found no reference to the 10k bonus on the onepath website. Another interesting thing was no where during the sign up process was I asked my QFF number, it was only after I purchased the policy was I presented with a link to update my QFF details, again no reference to the 10k bonus.

is this what happened with everyone else or did I do something wrong?

I had to wait until the very last screen until after I had put in my credit card. There was a very small link where you could enter your QFF number.

well I finally got around to organising life and income protection policies this morning.

I did it through the link on the QFF site, and in both cases after entering my QFF number, I got the following text:

Code:
Thank you for your details. You will now start to earn 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point for every $1 of premium paid, up to 20,000 points per annum, for the registered policy.

No mention of the 10,000 bonus points, guess we just have to wait and see ... although I have a screenshot of the QFF offer page as backup.

Sounds like you did what I did. You MUST apply either by phone or via the Qantas website otherwise the 10k bonus is not payable.

There should be a cooling off period (14 days??) where you can cancel the original policy and receive a refund of premiums paid.

I think that is the one and only link.

You go in from the Qantas website and if you look at the WWW address bar you can see it includes: ww.onepath.com.au/personal/insurance/qantas-frequent-flyer-buy-life-insurance-easyprotect.aspx

I am hoping that the middle bit with qantas-frequent-flyer......... is the important part as when you go to the get a quote/purchase page it carries this across.

I got mine via this method so hopefully it will work ok.

Interesting. The only direct link on my member specials page is Qantas Frequent Flyer which is different to the link you put up.

Did you get confirmation of the 10,000 points during the sign up process?

edit: the link you posted is what I get once I click on the "get quote" button for each of the eligible policies. My question stands regarding confirmation of the 10K points though.

I'm still waiting for my email confirmation of my policies, after applying and paying for them over the weekend. Looks like it's not an automated process.

You will be waiting a while, the confirmation is generated at the time in the form of a PDF.

Hmmm....my application froze before i was asked / could enter my QF FF no....I got my policy pdf tho; better ring tomorrow and see if they can add my QF no, before I consider getting more policies.

I know but my browser crashed when I tried printing it so I didn't manage to save the confirmation details. But it did say that a copy will be emailed though.

I have not got any emails, after three weeks now.

No emails here either. I went to their self service section on the website and applied for account to see what I could manage online, apparently it takes 3 days! for them to send you a password ...
