Tried to transfer my funds to my bank account and got this message:

'Dear xx_X,

Thank you for your request to withdraw funds from your IG account by bank transfer.

Due to a relatively short time you've been trading with us, we are required to send the funds back to the original source they were deposited from. In your case it means that we can only send your money back to your Paypal account.

.

In the meantime, I recommend logging into your IG account and re-requesting your withdrawal back to your Paypal account. This will be processed as soon as possible and will take under 24 hours to allocate the funds back to your account.

Seems dodgy as I didn't use a paypal account to fund my share purchase.
I got the same - deposited with a Visa Debit and tried to withdraw to the Bank account the visa debit was linked to

Has changed since Tuesday then (though funds yet to hit my bank account)
Oops-had misentered my account number. The transfer bounced. Still able to request it to go to my bank account this time round despite loading with PayPal

Im super new to this trading business, is it as follows through IG?
1. Choose a trade (BHP, NAB etc)
2. Click on the 'buy' option and input min AUD90
3. Does order type matter at all? What's best if i just want to place a trade and then later tonight sell in order to get the 10k points?

EDIT: Have sorted it out

Tried again to have my money withdrawn to my savings account. Once again rejected. I don't have a paypal account!

Hi all
I signed up today for IG and deposited funds. When I go to try and buy BEN shares I get a message saying that the market is no longer available online. Is this because it is the weekend or is there some other reason?

cheers Peter

Confirming this strategy works. A very significant number of points have now hit my account.

Deposited using AMEX via PayPal and withdrawn straight to your bank account?
Yes. Principal returned within 24 hours to my bank account. Immediately put the money back into my AMEX account. No interest or any other charge from AMEX. Rinse and repeat many many times.

Are you paying cash advance fees for these PayPal payments?

Opened an account today and spoke to the friendly rep who reminded me of the QF offer :) I think the 10K QF points bonus for a trade is just the tip of the iceberg as has been alluded to above...;)

I used to have a great little score going with AMEX travelers cheques, I would buy them in AUD via bpay with a credit card as a purchase, deposit them back to my bank as a cheque, no fees, use the 55 interest free days and then pay back to the CC.

Unfortunately it melted some time ago :-(
