Re: 10 QFF Points per $ - Gift Vouchers are back!

My Christmas wishes will include
1. Bonus points actually posting, never mind within the time frame.
2. Residuals not involving 2-3 hr phone calls each time to get back.

Doesn't it just issue you a new voucher that you can use in the same way?

That's how its supposed to work, like how bonus points are supposed to post. However......

I still think its perfectly safe to use these vouchers purely to avoid cc fee, and lower your expectation for bonus points to post. If it comes, its truly a bonus.

After the absolute fiasco of last year getting the points from the Q vouchers when many FF were put through the ringer over months trying and waiting to retrieve the points, I'm extremely hesitant of buying anymore, so unless our resident guru Red Roo can category state here on AFF there will be no repeat of last year I & Mrs lime are in for the max.

So Red Roo how about it :)

It does seem that there were a variety of outcomes last year.

I only bought two vouchers that I did not use for a while.

Points posted as advertised and there were no issues.

The points issue came about when the voucher was used shortly after purchase. If it wasn't used immediately the points seemed to post ok.

This thread has reminded me that QF never did issue my residual voucher, even after several phone calls. I don't think I have the PNR anymore either.

You are the perfect customer then, :)

I had lots of problems, like most others here, last year and swore off them. But the temptation of the points is a big one. I think I'll do it in a small way and take the advice here to wait until the bonus points post before using them.

Used mine months after, had nothing but problems like others did, had promise after promise.

I used all my low value vouchers with no residuals. I had to change the name which was fine once I figured out it was right at the end of the bkg process, and the points were there when they said they would be.

Hope I'm as lucky this time too.

I am not sure what I did right last year. I used the first of my vouchers the same day it was issued and it went through no worries, but I had to email them regarding the $1 residual which they promptly rectified. I used the $1 residual voucher to avoid the credit card fee on the following paid booking. Other vouchers I used in full each time and all points posted no problems. I hope I will be as lucky this year.

Can anyone who has participated in this offer in the past advise whether paying with the Woolworths Qantas CC netted them 2 points per dollar for the purchase?

Glad this is back. I'll be spending the required $1500 on the new ANZ card, netting an extra 15,000 points to the 50,000. Plus sending it to the other half's new FF account (10k bonus) makes a very useful 78,000 points and $1500 to use on QF.

does anyone know if you could use the vouchers to buy a ticket in Y class and then upgrade to J class?

When buying the Saver fares it says that "you may request for an upgrade" but how many seats per flight are allocated for upgrades? is it in the same pool as redeemed J classes or a separate pool?

I liked you post - as I enjoyed the sentiment.

(Did you realise that $1 voucher can save the $7.70/$30 CC when used on a strait forward booking? :p ;))

I do, and I called multiple times chasing it up. At some point it dropped off my radar.

Have a question for the pros here: after reading all about the issue with residual value vouchers, would it seem then that the "trick" is to buy vouchers in denominations most closely approximating (but not exceeding) the expected airfares*?

*Of course, this assumes you know now where you need to travel to in the next year so you can calculate the airfares.

Not relating to this promotion directly but I have purchased some Qantas vouchers using my ANZ QF FF Black card in the past and was awarded the 1x bonus points (i.e. 2.5 points per $ spent). The purchase was recorded as 'Qantas Airways' in the credit card statement.

They're relatively easy to use as long as you want to make simple one-way or return journeys, and want to pay cash for the fare. It's a pity they're so limited - QF really should just switch to proper gift cards like every other retailer in Australia.
Be careful of even the simplest overseas itineraries. The flight options available can be limited when using a voucher.

Really!? I booked 2-3 MEL-SIN return flights and never saw differences in availability (i.e I first did a search using the normal search function and then repeated the same search in the "voucher" search engine). I guess I've been lucky.

I believe you can't see partners and/or code shares, only QF metal/marketed IIRC...?
