While it would have been nice for there to have been such a promotion applicable to us, unfortunately it was not to be. However, it was unannounced so anyone trying to take advantage of it was doing so at their own risk.

.

Indeed.

It was always either a mistake...or a promo starting early.

Unfortunately it was the first.

What's the bet that we don't get offered the promo ?? because we use our cards too much.

My daughter has already received it and she hardly uses her AMEX card. Double points for the next 3 months with a maximum per month of 1,000 for expenditure on Supermarkets & Fuel.

Making her a great candidate for a promo then....as promos are really there to benefit Amex rather than the users.

Double points for the next 3 months with a maximum per month of 1,000 for expenditure on Supermarkets & Fuel.

Thanks for info.

So if I have understood you correctly that is double points for Supermarkets and Fuel Purchases only.

Max of 1000 bonus points per month. 3 K in total.

For Sept and October the I will stick with my KF Amex.

Maximum of 1,000 points for 3 months, if that's the case then EPIC FAIL to Amex for a very poor promotion!

Westpac KF til the end of Oct for me then!

I was hoping for a maximum of 5k or 10k per month

Well, I read it as: Maximum 1000 points per month on supermarket & fuel expenditure, no limit on other spends, as in DJs, Myers etc.

YIPPPPEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

:p :p :p

I am in...

Got my first credit of 1,000 points on 4/8 and 3 lots of 1,000 on 5/8, for a total of 4,000 so far.

Have done 13 transactions on 4th and 5th. 19 if you include the 3rd.

BRING IT ON!!!

I got 2 X 1000 pts as well - didn't register, hadn't even heard of it until I logged on here to see what was going on...

From reading others experiences sure its another Amex botch up and they will disappear next month..... So not getting excited at all and just making sure they don't steal more points than they gave...

I think you are confusing Woolworths QF Everday earn with Amex MR.

I have always earnt points for Gift Cards on my various Amex's including KF, Earth, Altitude and Amex Maximiser.

I am talking about this "promotion" and going off the information given above.

From Above
"My daughter has already received it and she hardly uses her AMEX card. Double points for the next 3 months with a maximum per month of 1,000 for expenditure on Supermarkets & Fuel."

So Amex want to exclude petrol and food, but if I buy giftcards for Woolies is there a 1000 pooint limit per month ;)

I would think it on where you buy them from. If you buy them from Woolies, that will be Supermarket spend.

Disclaimer: I don't really know.

We will have to wait for more information on the specifics. But from that and another thread by Snufl I am currently guessing that the points will be gained just at supermarkets and fuel stations.

If a 1000 point limit applies you no doubt could buy $1000 worth of Gift cards and nothing else.

You might recall for example previous Amex Promos where points have been gained at only certain stores or types of stores. (Electrical stores Promo, BP Fuel Promo, Colorado Promo etc etc...)

Well I logged onto my MR account to check it and noticed 3,000 points had been docked with the same notation.. I thought WTF????? I hadn't seen any bonii on my statement. After some checking I managed to find the 3k of bonus points...

Well this is interesting. Just checked my MR account then and I have been credited 1,000 points with the same annotation. So now I've gone from incorrectly being 1,000 points in the hole to correctly diddly-squat.

And I didn't have to call Amex about it.

You'd think that Amex would learn their lesson about setting up a promo based on transaction count based on last year's debacle.

On my business Amex account all previous boni are now gone!

I thought they missed 2,000 points (in my favour) but after going back through all the transactions they are still there.

With the current MR balance on the account  it is hard to tell at times what is happening.

Not really fussed over about 0.2% of my total MR balance going backwards, it will be made up again in a day or two with normal purchases!

This is just getting ridiculous. I only received 1,000 bonus points, but they removed 2,000 points.

Code:
27/08/2009 Bonus Points reversal: awarded in error 0 -2,000 -2,000
09/08/2009 MERCHANT $10.50 11 1,000 1,011
- Bonus 1,000 points for 5 transactions 0 1,000

Looks like they've fixed it (for now):
Code:
29/08/2009 Bonus Points reversal: awarded in error 0 1,000 1,000
How much longer before they screw up this (or the next) promo?

They just can't seem to get it right. You'd think they would learn after the last time.

Bonus Points awarded: 4000

26/08/2009 - Bonus Points reveral: awarded in error -1000
27/08/2009 - Bonus Points reveral: awarded in error -3000
27/08/2009 - Bonus Points reveral: awarded in error -3000
29/08/2009 - Bonus Points reveral: awarded in error 3000

They got me too.
Given 4,000, taken 4,000.

"The Amex Lord Giveth, the Amex Lord Taketh away"

Lets get some clarity late in this thread..

Is this promo starting today?? and have we ascertained its 5 trans for 1k points? no sign-up needed? only at certain merchants? and limited earning potential?
