Does anyone know what is the Peninsula Hong Kong deal at the moment? I am going to be there for three nights, and looks like Peninsula themselves is offering 2nd night free if you stay in a Suite.

Why don't you ask your RM if you want a definitive answer. That is what they are there for. It's costing you $5k a year. It's a personalised service is it not.

Cancelled a coupla weeks back - first pangs of missing Cent now. The comp Travel Insurance was pretty good - as I have FF pts accumulated via several diff cards I am just not game to rely on other CC Comp Ins - so today have taken up a Chubb policy costing me $1,000 to get similar cover for the small workforce in our company.

I knew this was coming but still could not justify the addit 4K - QP and VP what about $800 combined is it not? Hilton and IHG top tier about all the rest of much value to me - throw in a free night or 2 at a premium hotel and I think I can see ~$3K annual value to ME - MP Dia I would value at about $500 annually but it's going - just cannot see 5K value in this card - bear in mind I am spending mine not someone else's - but then again we are all different - clearly YMMV.

Hope your broker considered AIG before going with Chubb who we currently use only for Management Liability. Our "Premium Corporate Travel Policy" covering also Director + family leisure travel and no excess is significantly under that amount and love how it is all business expensed.

Caused I can't sleep and posted it at 1am and was hopeful someone will reply before the following day.

Ask the RSM he will have all the details.

Well, Peninsula 2-for-1 rate is only marginally cheaper and isn't 50% off on cheapest available rate...

Ah so a catch in matter of fact

A few interesting things have come to my attention recently that make me wonder about the future of this product in Australia. People leaving Centurion and not being encouraged to stay (I know of several), decline in benefits, no new ones and a recent discovery that so called Centurion RM's also handle calls from Platinum members.

How much did they quote you?? Cheaper than mo?! Wow

For a standard room MO and Shangri-la was over 5k, Peninsula was only 47xx. Conrad was over 6k. Ended up booking the Harbour View at 6870 IIRC. Just check MO just now their rooms during that period and it is over 8k. There must be something on? I was hoping to stayed at FS but only suites are left.

When using Amex travel services I always try and check the prices online, and frequently will get them to lower the quote. Ie flights or hotel deals especially

Wow this thread is really buzzing !! Best I can report is an upgrade in Vegas with the Amex FHR but I could have had that with Platinum :(
I can report that at least 20 people have said "wow that cards really heavy" but that's getting boring now !

I just finalised my trip to HK and US, and as I am not going to use the transfer from home as I will be parking at the airport, they gave me one in HK and one at LA.

I have been fortunate then. I have somehow been gifted with chauffeur service in every place home and O/s to & from airport. So very grateful as Berlin and especially London are not cheap.
