Interesting Quali with Daniel starting 5th tomorrow. If Vettel hadn't have screwed his timings up and snuck in a last flying lap in Q3 it could have been a Red Bull on pole.

Tomorrow will be interesting for sure.

Red Bull stuffed their strategy badly in Q3. Sent both cars out to get two flying laps.
Lap 1 for both Ric and Vet was ruined by later pitters coming out, particularly Ric who passed about four cars on that lap. Then there were about six cars in tight spacing - not good for anyone in the rain, and the resulting spread cost Vet the extra lap, although given the distance he was behind other cars wouldn't have made a difference.

Sitting at the track it was a very poor call to delay Qualy so long. They should have started Q1 about 20-30min earlier and Q3 would have been completed on inters with potentially some dry lines appearing.

Instead they faffed around, missed the best of the weather and it got wetter into Q2 and Q3...

Plus it meant I missed coughtails from 530-730 at the Doubletree :-(

Yikes, popped away for a quick shower and Ric dropped from 4th right down - lots of people +1lap too, what did I miss!?

Being told to take off after a pit stop before the LH front tyre had been properly changed.

Then his front wing came adrift - possibly due to previous issue and finally a stop and go due to the initial "unsafe release".

Probably better to retire in the long run ...

Qualifying pretty much as expected, Bottas continues to show up Massa, and Mercedes have 7 out of the top ten. Pity about Ricciardo's penalty, if he can stay clear of idiots he should be able to build position.

Great result for Riccardio - passed Vettel twice and looked good but Mercedes just streets ahead of the field.

Was a much more exciting race than I suspected and glad I got up at the horrible hour (1am). Hamilton did very well to defend against Rosberg despite being on the wrong tyres after the safety car.

Again showed up the stupidity of the safety car procedure with it taking ages for the lapped cars to unlap and catch up.

Also showed up the crazy nature of Riccardo's drive through and 10-place penalty for a minor pit lane infringement (for which there is a fixed penalty) whereas Maldonado gets a 5-place penalty for being total stupid, not looking and flipping Gutierrez on pitlane exit.

Thanks for the précis. I am actually watching the replay as I didn't have your fortitude at 1am. I do know the result 'though.

I PVRd it and was one of the more entertaining races for a while, even if the the Mercedes remain dominant it will be interesting to see Hamilton and Rosberg dynamic - both skilled drivers and showing it.

Agreed. Bahrain not normally a great race but it was this year.

My wife was not so happy when I got up at 1am... I tripped over the ladder (been painting) in the living room, which hit the table.. which smashed something on the floor. Whoops.

Good race though! :)
