Sorry, an F1 fan for many many years but not paying Foxtel bribe to watch it. They (F1) are crazy if they think NOT having it on FTA is sensible. Although given Bernie's idiocy of the now abandoned qualifying sessions, it seems its days are numbered.

I have no interest in Foxtel either so not paying $50/month to watch F1. If you could get the sport package on its own then maybe I would.

Yeah I don't get it. I would happily pay $30 a month for just the sports package. But I won't pay $60 a month for the sports plus a heap of cough I won't watch.

Sorry for you,
You missed a great race with plenty of action.
I pay for foxtel go so can pay for those months I care to watch.
I also get to have the opportunity to watch all the super rugby games as well as ARL.
I used to say I would always try to avoid using Telstra as well , but sometimes you have to compromise if you want premium product , which is what the Formula 1 is marketing to be.

Yes, excellent race again, and thank god we went back to the old qualifying. as someone who has followed F1 for 22years, and have attended races here and o/s since 2000, and who's family it is the main sport, yes, we subscribe to foxtel. i just find now that the coverage we get via foxtel is so much more superior than the coverage that channel 10/One HD were allowed to show. we watch everything, all the practices, before and after every race etc, and for us as a family it is way worth it. loved Ricc's start today, and what a race he drove, all the passing was fantastic. can't believe that i wasn't there after having done 8/10 of the last shanghai's races too

Wow, what a race. That was the best race I have seen in a long time. Amazing the difference when a number of fast cars have to come through the field. Misfortune for Dan with the puncture then the safety car but a great recovery all the same. Like others I refuse to pay for Foxtel but managed to get a free live stream to work uninterrupted.

Qualy still had its issues. Barely any top cars out in the first five minutes of Q1,Q2.. No cars at all in the first two minutes of Q2

Granted the countdown system had its issues but so does this system

Have fox sports for the, well, sport. So today watched NRL, AFL & F1 here amd there

With F1 there is a red button option giving (today) additional views.

1. Was Hamiltons car cam - entire race

2. Was the lap timings etc. (You can pay for this on f1.com)

3. Was a hybrid showing a mix on the pne view inclusing a pane with timings, placings etc & the main video. - my 40" was to small for any reasonable viewing

Woke up this am in Waterford, IE and put TV on to watch news. Found GP being broadcast. Wife didn't mind putting brekkie back for about 45 mins so I could watch race.

And what a race it was with a good result for Ric given his early puncture. Loved the way he passed Ham.

Indeed.

I was beginning to think that I was the only one following F1 any more. Interesting to see how the Foxtel/10 split telecasting deal has destroyed the fan base*

*Based on lack of AFFers posting recently. ;)

I had to go to a mates place and keep news silence until 830pm to watch it "live" (taped) on foxtel.

Wont be doing that every second GP.

Yeah - I was away so caught up on the One replay on Monday night, pretty boring once the first 10 laps were done and pretty difficult to reliably hide from the internet/tv/radio and spoilers. Unless another team find some speed/performance soon it looks like Rosberg and Mercedes have got this one in the bag already this season.

It seems like the guys on Sky Sports F1 are not too keen on the 'Aeroscreen' that was trialled on the Red Bull. They are trying to 'create' reasons to hate it....

In FP2 Martin Brundle was likening the direction this was all heading to driver-less cars. A bit dramatic but I understand where he is coming from.

Drivers know the risk when they jump into the coughpit, if they aren't accepting of it then it might be time they changed profession.

Martin said this a few times. The 'slippery slope' argument is normally used by those who do not have any real facts to justify their point of view.

Hamilton has had some more bad luck in qualifying. With Hamilton from 10 and Vettel from 7, there should be a bit of overtaking at the start of the race at least.

Will be interesting to see whether HAM gets a penalty.
And also what the rules will be for that bollard on Turn 2 the first lap of the race... Can very easily see cars being forced wide - and if you have to go round the bollard you will be last.

"Reprimand" only for HAM.

It seems Kvyat as fallen foul of Helmut Marco following his crash with Vettel in Russia and has been replaced by Verstappen at Red Bull. Kvyat takes Verstappen's seat at Torro Rosso, Red Bulls junior team. Not sure Ricciardo will be looking forward to the new pairing.

Fairly ruthless decision but I guess that's the luxury of having four contracted drivers across 2 different teams.
