Absolutely Oatek. There have been quite a few who have resigned from ARM due to his being the head.
A few more apparently have left after his recent Gorilla remark re the South African security person.
An absolutely egotistical idiot.

Back on topic.I really don't think Trump is either right wing or conservative.I think those that are will be disappointed. He is a populist who has correctly picked up on the issues affecting a lot of those who voted for him.

Yes the perspective is not necessarily ideological. His perspective is business and the business "deal" he can engineer on the various issues.

This one dates from after Eric Burdon moved on - have always felt they never got the credit they deserved outside of CA.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

How is it that this thread is allowed yet any discussion on Australian politics is shut down?

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Political discussions in non political threads.
And political discussions that get shut down tend to be disrespectful of alternative opinions, heated and descends into namecalling

Just about sums up the 'Greatest Snake Oil Salesman' to strut this planet doesn't it?

Absolutely true CE.
But the real point is that the opponents are too up themselves to see it.
Joh was the real master of this technique.

Meanwhile Trump breaking protocol by contacting the Taiwan President. This will make the Chinese really happy.

The call is the first known contact between a US president or president-elect with a Taiwanese leader since the United States broke diplomatic relations with the island in 1979. China considers Taiwan a province, and news of the official outreach by Trump is likely to infuriate the regional military and economic power.
Trump repeatedly criticised China during his campaign, promising to brand the country a currency manipulator, which could also add tension to relations with the Pacific power. He blamed China for undermining US manufacturing jobs by selling artificially cheap exports.

Donald Trump smashes protocol by speaking to Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen

It is difficult to exaggerate how significant - and how provocative - this action was. China considers Taiwan to be a rogue province and has declared that it would go as far as using military force to prevent Taiwanese independence. The US has for a generation danced a careful dance in support of Taiwan. It is the de facto guarantor of Taiwanese defence, but it does not recognise Taiwan as an independent state. No US leader has officially spoken with a Taiwanese president in decades.

Donald Trump blunders into conflict over Taiwan, knowing little and caring less

More about the deal than business, he isn't really a business person, he does deals.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Who sent me the photo shopped DT fondling the Statue Of Liberty? Cut that out if you are an Australian and get ready for Our immigration lines to get longer.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Is Trump going to put up with countries outside telling him who he is allowed to talk to? Will State etc have some control?

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

LOL China expects the World to tolerate it's "island building" down to the Sth Pole .... but Trump can't talk to Taiwan

Seth Macfarlane explains why most of Hollywood dislikes Trump.

“We live and work amongst his kind every day here. His tactics are those employed by the shiftiest of agents, lawyers, and publicists,” the actor said in a long note. “We’ve learned to recognize the blustery showmanship of a lying con man because we encounter it every day in our business.”

But as MacFarlane went on to explain, it’s important not to confuse Hollywood’s dislike for Trump with a lack of patriotism.
“Most of us love America a hell of a lot, and we don’t want America to be conned the way many of us have ourselves,” he wrote. “Trump is not of the People. Trump is of Hollywood. And that is the problem.”

When a tweeter said he in lived in a bubble.

When a disgruntled tweeter said that the actor and other “Hollywood scumbags live in a f!@$ing bubble,” MacFarlane pointed out that it was actually Trump who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth :

Pretty big generalization there. My parents were teachers. I made my own money at every step. Trump's daddy handed him his. Big difference.

Seth MacFarlane Breaks Down Why Most Of Hollywood Hates Trump

Meanwhile The New York Times has an article how Trump lied to the middle class white worker and how they will lose out.

The evidence of that coming betrayal is obvious in the choice of an array of pro-corporate, anti-labour figures for key positions.
In particular, the most important story of the week - seriously, people, stop focusing on Trump Twitter - was the selection of Tom Price, an ardent opponent of Obamacare and advocate of Medicare privatisation, as secretary of health and human services.

Who is Seth MacFarlane? Why should we care what he thinks?

If you're going to quote someone it pays to check that what they said isn't just mumbo jumbo illogical and idiotic rubbish.
To paraphrase: McFarlane is not of the people. He is of Hollywood........and therefore he's inseparably part of all that is shifty about it. If anyone came close to the make-believe of Hollywood surely it was "shifty" Hillary with her low credibility & trust issues.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

"if you are going to quote someone" ... it is perfectly OK to quote someone whether it is mumbo jumbo or whatever, or whether you agree with what is said or not. It is only important to quote what they say verbatim.

No name calling please. It is a tad tedious.

I would have thought the purpose of quoting someone would be to advance the conversation, something that McFarlane's thought bubble certainly doesn't.

You are being presumptuous with your name calling comment. A figment of your imagination it seems.
