Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Should I quote Fox News and Breibart News Sources which I suspect you endorsed?

You obviously don't know me but you just make things up by what you imagine my politics are.
For your information although I thought Trump would win because ordinary folk I talked to in the USA really didn't like Clinton.I would not have voted If I were an American citizen as both candidates have major flaws.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Surely you meant to post that in the humour thread or is this an example of fake news?
As to Russians hacking of course it has happened. But then don't you remember the USA hacking Angela Merkel's phone?
Then there is of course a fellow called Edward Snowden in Russia who has a lot of the US secrets.
As to Clinton's emails turning up on WikiLeaks surely the problem was her using insecure servers in contravention of Government property. She just made it easier for the Russians or anyone else who wanted to know what the US was thinking.I would be pretty sure the Chinese have hacked into her server as well.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Well today has seen some evidence of fake news.Remember how everyone says Trump had no evidence of widespread voter fraud?Well the Green Party recount in Michigan uncovered some evidence-
The Detroit News reported:
Detailed reports from the office of Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett show optical scanners at 248 of the city’s 662 precincts, or 37 percent, tabulated more ballots than the number of voters tallied by workers in the poll books. Voting irregularities in Detroit have spurred plans for an audit by Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson’s office, Elections Director Chris Thomas said Monday.
Hilariously, Detroit voted 95 percent in favor of Hillary Clinton on Nov. 8, representing one blue area in a state that ultimately went to Trump by just 10,704 votes. The discrepancies between votes cast and the number of voters tallied by poll workers was so bad across so many precincts that those areas couldn’t even be included in a recount, the Detroit News added.

In Wisconsin the Trump Lead increased-
Wisconsin recount that was completed Monday increased Trump’s victory margin there by 131 votes. He won 1,405,284 votes -- 22,748 more than Clinton

Added to that the FBI do not agree with the CIA that the Russians were trying to get Trump elected.

The FBI, however — while agreeing that the hacking campaign originated in Russia — has been reluctant to align itself with the CIA and assign a motive to the cyberattacks. A senior FBI counterintelligence told the House Intelligence Committee last week that the bureau was still not sure whether Russia's "specific goal" was to get Trump elected.
FBI, CIA in dispute over Russia hacking - Business Insider

Neither does the ODNI-

The overseers of the U.S. intelligence community have not embraced a CIA assessment that Russian cyber attacks were aimed at helping Republican President-elect Donald Trump win the 2016 election, three American officials said on Monday.
While the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) does not dispute the CIA's analysis of Russian hacking operations, it has not endorsed their assessment because of a lack of conclusive evidence that Moscow intended to boost Trump over Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton, said the officials, who declined to be named.
The position of the ODNI, which oversees the 17 agency-strong U.S. intelligence community, could give Trump fresh ammunition to dispute the CIA assessment, which he rejected as "ridiculous" in weekend remarks, and press his assertion that no evidence implicates Russia in the cyber attacks.

It is just like Australia. Vote early and vote often seems to apply.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

A great piece from Andrew Bolt's blog:

The ABC and Sydney Morning Herald are pumping out anti-Trump wah-wahs in high rotation.

But even Leftist Maureen Dowd of the anti-Trump New York Times has had enough and passes on advice from her Republican brother: get over yourselves, you sanctimonious, dictatorial, self-pitying crybabies.

The election was a complete repudiation of Barack Obama: his fantasy world of political correctness, the politicization of the Justice Department and the I.R.S., an out-of-control E.P.A., his neutering of the military, his nonsupport of the police and his fixation on things like transgender bathrooms. Since he became president, his party has lost 63 House seats, 10 Senate seats and 14 governorships.

The country had signaled strongly in the last two midterms that they were not happy. The Dems’ answer was to give them more of the same from a person they did not like or trust.

Preaching — and pandering — with a message of inclusion, the Democrats have instead become a party where incivility and bad manners are taken for granted, rudeness is routine, religion is mocked and there is absolutely no respect for a differing opinion. This did not go down well in the Midwest, where Trump flipped three blue states and 44 electoral votes.

The rudeness reached its peak when Vice President-elect Mike Pence was booed by attendees of “Hamilton” and then pompously lectured by the cast. This may play well with the New York theater crowd but is considered boorish and unacceptable by those of us taught to respect the office of the president and vice president, if not the occupants.

Here is a short primer for the young protesters. If your preferred candidate loses, there is no need for mass hysteria, canceled midterms, safe spaces, crying rooms or group primal screams. You might understand this better if you had not received participation trophies, undeserved grades to protect your feelings or even if you had a proper understanding of civics. The Democrats are now crying that Hillary had more popular votes. That can be her participation trophy...

Mr. Trump received over 62 million votes, not all of them cast by homophobes, Islamaphobes, racists, sexists, misogynists or any other “ists.” I would caution Trump deniers that all of the crying and whining is not good preparation for the coming storm. The liberal media, both print and electronic, has lost all credibility...

The media’s criticism of Trump’s high-level picks as “not diverse enough” or “too white and male” — a day before he named two women and offered a cabinet position to an African-American — magnified this fact.

Here is a final word to my Democratic friends. The election is over. There will not be a do-over. So let me bid farewell to Al Sharpton, Ben Rhodes and the Clintons. Note to Cher, Barbra, Amy Schumer and Lena Dunham: Your plane is waiting. And to Jon Stewart, who talked about moving to another planet: Your spaceship is waiting. To Bruce Springsteen, Jay Z, Beyoncé and Katy Perry, thanks for the free concerts. And finally, to all the foreign countries that contributed to the Clinton Foundation, there will not be a payoff or a rebate.

As Eddie Murphy so eloquently stated in the movie “48 Hrs.”: “There’s a new sheriff in town.” And he is going to be here for 1,461 days. Merry Christmas.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Intelligence officials have told NBC, that Vladimir Putin personally directed how to use emails that the Russians had hacked.

Russian President Vladimir Putin personally directed how hacked emails were used in a campaign to interfere with the US election, according to intelligence officials who spoke to NBC News in the US.

According to the diplomatic sources, the Russian influence campaign had its origins in a vendetta by Putin for comments Hillary Clinton made about the integrity of Russian elections in 2011.
From there, the effort changed into a campaign to demonstrate US political corruption, NBC reported, and to "split off key American allies by creating the image that [other countries] couldn't depend on the US to be a credible global leader anymore", according to the official.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

I love how some people love to quote sources that are as reliable and well sourced as a New Idea or New York Post article when it suits them. I guess it easier than actually understanding anything relevant.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

Yes, Bolt, the Man who is Righter than Right; agree with him and he will disagree with you as he needs that "righter" position

The thing is though, it's all largely an act. Much like Steven Colbert, but without the actual humour. He's happy to attack the Left, especially the ABC. And that's fine. People's opinions on these things aren't really my business. But he's not afraid to take the ABC's money to produce a "documentary" on indigenous recognition. You see it quite a bit with the conservative columnists. Sharri Markson and Gerard Henderson both put their bank balance ahead of their prinicples to regularly appear on ABC television. Hardly the stance of a staunch cultural warrior.

Of course it is, in their business its all about generating headlines; more headlines, more outrage, more coverage = $$$$$$$$

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

A number of electors might change their vote and block Trump from becoming President.

He is obviously a great lawyer. If the Electoral college overturns the result it is then up to Congress to decide who is President and Vice President. The House decides on the President, the Senate on the Vice-President.Guess who controls both houses now?

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

And Trump cancelled his press conference where he was going to explain how he would end his business conflicts of interest.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump I am getting great credit for my press conference today. Crooked Hillary should be admonished for not having a press conference in 179 days.
9:17 AM - 1 Jun 2016

Unless Trump holds a press conference by Jan. 21, one day after his inauguration, he will hit the very mark for which he ridiculed Clinton on Twitter. We've created this handy widget to track how long it has been since Trump held a formal press conference, and how many times he has tweeted in that time. It will keep counting until he holds one:

It’s been 140 days since Donald Trump’s last press conference. In the meantime, he’s tweeted 1,461 times.

Andrew Blot the single reason I now refuse to buy what was once my beloved Herald Sun - the newspaper with we which we all grew up on - Murdoch should hang his head in shame employing this mental midget.

Andrew Bolt is a mental giant not a mental midget.

Thousands buy the 'Herald Sun' because of his column: he is the most widely read columnist in Australia. He used to work for the Australian Labor Party but has long seen the light - and no, I don't mean that stupid term 'light on the hill.'

He is as productive as CFMEU unionists, the latter a group that often holds Australia collectively to ransom, are not.

Re: 2016 US Presidential Election

No need to read further than that really.......................

Ah yes, more proof of the intellectual vacuum within which some lefties reside, where even another lefty's article is dismissed simply because a right-leaning journalist referenced it.

He has virtually zero presence west of the Nullarbor, at least until recently and Seven West's acquisition of News Corps one and only WA masthead. We prefer our own conservative pundits. It's the WA way.

Ah yes, more proof of the intellectual vacuum within which some lefties reside, where even another lefty's article is dismissed simply because a right-leaning journalist referenced it.

Good effort to to take an eight word sentence and extrapolate out my entire outlook on life and politics.

In any event, this is a thread about the US election, not Andrew Bolt or the CFMEU, or this intellectually vacummed individual.

Donald won. Legally and fairly until proven otherwise. What we're all waiting for is to see just how much of what he promised will be delivered. He was right when he argued about the need to drain the swamp. But it doesn't seem to be going all that well based on his first cabinet announcements.started well.
