I've walked the track of the Monaco F1 GP but personally would never pay an exorbitant fee to go watch the race, its probably the most boring on the calendar although glamorous... And yes staying at Nice and training to Monaco was very simple, whether it would be quite so simple over that weekend I don't know...

I didn't have any sort of paid tv subscription for a year or two and found it hard to find anywhere to watch F1 races on the net so got out of the whole thing a bit, now have Kayo which allows me to watch them from anywhere so that's not to bad... Plus a bunch of other sports as well of course...

I’m a huge F1 fan but ever since they dropped the V8/10/12 screamers from days gone past there is nothing compelling me to attend any F1 race (unless of course someone else is putting me up in a corporate box). I watch every practice, qualifying and race glued to the Fox 4K broadcast without feeling like I’ve ever missed out on anything by not being at the event.

I am sitting in back room of the house and just finished listening to the engine noise. Middle Park is a good location if you are into the AU GP although the closed off streets and other interruptions can be an annoyance. For the other 361 days of the year we get to listen to the engine noise (V8s, bikes and the cruisers) on the main drag between St Kilda and Port Melbourne.

You cancel it now the team members and overseas tourists will just spend time in Melbourne cafes and restaurants for the next 3 days - even more community transmission.

Worryingly those above are from the UK, not Italy

Scream through the media about closing schools, but the F1 is A-Ok.... what a tosser!

Bulk of the F1 tourists don't come from the outbreak countries.
Until the Italy outbreak which is a far more recent thing

Doesn't matter, was always going to blow up here.
Victorian Government and Organizers just wishful thing.

Suspect its over then...
Probably the season - bulk of the McLaren (UK based) team will have it - they'll all have worked closely together for the last few weeks

Hope they don't bring it back with them, I'd like to keep my upcoming travel unchanged and not have ex-UK people banned :)

Grand Prix Called Off .... imo, it was a crazy, cash driven decision to allow it to continue in the current pandemic. Mind you, it seems it wasn't the Vic government's decision but the F1 teams themselves!!

yep seems so
Strangely www.formula1.com still has the ticker counting down to the race and no news on the cancellation.

it’s gone mate they are just working out the language so they don’t take down certain political careers in the process. Right decision.

Marshalls have been advised to attend briefings at 07:50 and day will be going ahead as planned.

I love sport. I adore Formula 1.

But if this event goes ahead, it is nothing short of criminal negligence.

Radio silence from the AU F1 bosses/FIA is very poor considering the media are filling the space left empty with such strong statements.
I'm convinced the cancellation leak has come from dissenting team members who want the race cancelled. Absolute pressure on the organisation.

Should have woken up to iron clad announcements so everyone knows what's going on. As it is, a complete vacuum of information...but marshalls are getting in to place as I type and I can hear the two seater zooming around...so who knows....
