How is it vital for the Kiwis, they codeshare ex PER???

If Air NZ meet's up with good connection time with The SAA flight in PER it could work if one was looking for a early morning arrival into JNB.

I would like see hear that they plan to open a new route Christchurch-Adelaide-Perth-Dubai. Perhaps operated by Jetconnect. Fat chance I know.

'They' already have. It's called CHC-SYD-BKK-DXB and it is operated by a 777 in EK colours.

Ha ha ha! Good effort! I am booked on that route in May and other family members use it too. Not least because QF have made it virtually impossible to fly their metal CHC-LHR, tho return is not so bad.

Might have to change your name to Qantas, you seem to have forgotten about ADL/PER :)
Nice point well made! Your contributions to this site are greatly appreciated!
QF would be well advised to ponder why AirNZ have introduced direct CHC-PER.

To be fair it is seasonal, and to be fair to QF they did run PER-AKL over the holiday period just past

There is also talk on airliners.net about maybe QF sending an A380 to DFW.... Could this happen if they cut DXB/LHR routes?

Terminating both Australia-DXB-LHR services at DXB, would I imagine free up 2 A380's which could be used to serve DFW. Terminating QF9/10 but keeping QF 1/2 all the way to LHR would free up 3 A380s'....

On a regular basis, 500 here 1000 there over the last ten year, close to three thousand in April 09.

Thanks Markis10, as a general rule in the past where have the majority of these job losses come from? Frontline staff? Maintenance? Etc?

I'm just curious as to what we can expect in the future service wise (apart from obviously reduced services)

Someone also posted the Load factors for the DFW flights and it was something like 70%.. An A380 would mean up gauging capacity though right? Guess we will find out on the 27th!

I seriously don't see how they think they will survive if they cut *more* routes, routes are needed to make people want to fly QF, routes where QF have cut in the past I don't even bother with their replacement codeshare services on non-OW airlines (read india.etc.etc) I just goto the competition such as CX and MH.

I reckon we'll see MEL-HKG go, which they will say is because its loss making but in reality its because a lot of people (including me) want to fly on the A380 not a rickety old A330, the refurb of these aircraft is years overdue and too little too late, M'ment need to take responsibility for their past mistakes. Cutting routes and costs is only going to mean your revenue will go down..

The current M'ment/board needs to go, the Gov needs to get off their idealic high-horse and do something to save the company, and they need to order some new planes for future growth!!
