This uncertainty is why I burnt 1M of points in the last month.....it should only take me a few years to build them up if I feel comfortable again

SYD-PER-JNB on the 747 would make the most sense. PER-DXB-JNB is a joke and nobody will buy it.

The rumours are right - if anything the numbers are too low. To say it will be ugly is an understatement

So this is the CEO's response to the crisis?

Decimate Qantas further and expect the company to survive. Any hint of reducing obscene executive salaries by at least 50%?

This CEO had a 50% salary increase recently. He is earning more in a year than I have managed my entire life. At least I make a difference.

There are too many middle management jobs and senior management jobs at QF. Cull most of them.

This just shows the tie up with Emirates has been an utter disaster and that Alan Joyce and his team must all resign before the Federal government even thinks about offering Qantas $1 in assistance.

Don't forget the Board. Lets hope Peter Cosgrove does a better job with his new appointment!

I have close to 1.2 million QFF points I have worked hard to accumulate. I don't want to throw them away on redemptions I do not need due to incompetent management. :(

Earn and burn! and, preferably not on MASA trying to maintain status...

I think its pretty clear their value will degrade next week, forewarned is for-armed.

I have about 600K points and am going to make long haul J 2 bookings 'on spec' to my 2 most likely destinations as insurance. 5000 points to change each is pretty cheap insurance, including complete cancellation if the sky actually doesn't fall in.

So again this is the best current management can offer? Every moron can see they are incompetent yet the board thinks all is OK and has organised a conference in advance.

Just wonderful. No time to burn QFF points....

Over the weekend I ticked up two BA16 F and QF52 J seats for a little 3 day parent getaway later this year - around 350,000 QFF toasted. Still have a couple of million to burn.

If it was all to end tomorrow - I'd be pretty happy in the thought that I've redeemed something like 50 long haul F & J seats over the years. All but two of these have been classic awards.

You could book a flight now and not stop until they're burnt. I'm not suggesting that you do this as I'm sure QFF will be the same or roughly the same come the 27th Feb 2015.

But, I would say building a pile of points and storing them in a FF account has risks - there is no doubt that their value has dropped over the years and will certainly continue to do so. It's a bit like a property boom.....for 10, 15, 20 years prices rise and then BANG! Massive correction and a whole lot of value disappears in a heartbeat.

Interesting times.. I do collect qf points ( although not in the millionaire's club), but no longer consider them an asset.
If sometime , the points save me paying for a flight to go where and when I want to go.. great .. if not.. too bad

These are 6 x 140K RTW....its my mum's 60th birthday present and she will not be expecting it...start in asia and do europe this year and BNE half way and USA 2015. I am not 100% happy with the burn (would rather be in J/F) but too much going on with Qantas at the moment to have a high balance. Best of luck JohnK I know how hard these are to earn when you are only an employee and self funded traveller
