Re: 28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/

This is a test charge from Lifemiles to your credit card, in this case 28 degrees...it gets refunded from memory. The first time I used my 28 degrees MC to buy lifemiles, I had these funny $1 charges and a phone call from the fraud department from 28 degrees; after a long chat, it hasn't been a problem since tho. PS: to reduce your likelihood of your 28 degrees MC being blocked when buying lifemiles etc, try and use it within Australian business hours...that's what the fraud department told me.

Thanks for the info. Yes I also got a phone call from the fraud department regarding not just the $1 charges from LM, but also the miles purchases.
They 'unlocked' the card and said that from here on LM transactions should be fine.

Hopefully the $1 transactions get refunded as well!

Hey everyone.
Just had an experience purchasing LM with 28degree card where each transaction was charged a USD1 fee. I thought this was coming from LM - but have been told that it would be a credit card fee.
Have I missed something in my card set up that this fee is being charged?

Regards.
This question sounds familiar...

No point having 28Deg now even for purchases given BankWest Qantas Plat has the same purchase benefits.

Even the $0 fee Bankwest Platinum (also fee-free foreign transactions) is better than the 28 degrees card - you get all the insurances that 28 degrees doesn't have. The travel insurance on the Bankwest card also compares quite favourably against other card travel insurances.

Although the $0 annual fee on the 28 Degree would be part of the consideration

Are the forex rates the same on purchases? I find this the most competitive rate on all my CC/Amex when used overseas.

The 28 Degrees rate is just the Mastercard rate .. which is the same for cash advances or purchases.

Sorry, I meant the forex rate on the 28MC vs the Bankwest product.

Any ATM fee free cards others know of?

Re: 28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/

Doesn't affect me here

Always use my Amex/Visa when overseas and taking into account the 2 points earned per $ which is roughly 9% return it's still worth paying the FX fee and coughpy exchange rate which works out to about 5% from what you could get with the 28D card.

For cash I'll stick with Travelex and 1 QFF per $1 spent,

Lets discuss this over a coughtail.

Not much choice in Thailand with only 6 branches and all of them in Bangkok.

AEON ATM's are too hard to find outside of Bangkok and if you do find them they are out of the way and for someone like me I have no time to go out of my way to an ATM.

If I really get stuck and have to use the 28 Degrees for cash advances then I ask the golf bus driver for the cash and I pay the green fees with the card. ;)

They seem to be. Although BankWest seem to charge a lot on cash advances.

So I have the Citibank Visa Debit via the Plus Account
Told no Biller code to make BPAY accounts?
Therefore create own?
Use Account number as reference number to transfer money via BPAY into account.
Correct(I don't want to use direct debit)

No one offers a BPAY for a bank savings product, simple BSB and account number will suffice.

Correct, it's a simple account to account electronic funds transfer.

Re: 28° [Wizard] Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas

Hi all,

Just my electronic transfer from Westpac charges money (it's the stupid business account system they have) every time I do it.
So basically even though VISA Debit card I cannot get Citibank to request money from another account(Like I do with Ubank/Me bank) and unlike paying for any credit card, 28 degrees, I cannot Bpay the amount into the card?
Citibank Customer service said I can Bpay money in by putting my account number in the REF number section of Westpac BPAY.....Is this correct?

So really just load card up before I go...hope for the best?

it's a transaction account, basically no transaction accounts allow you to bpay in to them.

get a less ridiculous account, or open a Ubank account, which you can BPAY to, then transfer from.
