Dammit! Does anyone think that Citibank might introduce fees now too?

Well I was driven to Citi by NAB Gold changes...it seems they're going to be swamped by refugees from 28 degrees now. Hopefully they're big enough and ugly enough to happily absorb the costs.

Just applied for Citibank plus...is the rate as good as 28 degrees?
Concerning mobile do you drop the "0" due to 061 or type the whole number?
What is Medicare ref number....is it the last number on card? (verification) Edit: bugger stuffed it up I think as I put the last number not the first :/
Does it always take 5 days?
Got an email saying if no confirmation email in 48hrs off to Citi or post office to verifi ID ahhhhhhhh
Regards

Always drop the 0 if its international which is what the 61 designates, the reference number is the one beside your name on the card.

Was about to apply for the Citi Plus product but before doing so had a quick look at the fees and charges. Can anyone shed any light on this footnote, specifically the text enlarged:

4.
Fee-free withdrawal limit applies to ATM withdrawals at Citibank and Partner* ATMs within Australia, EFTPOS, cheque withdrawals, direct debits, BPAY, Internet andPhone Banking, but NOT ATM withdrawals at non-Citibank and non-Partner ATMs, bank cheques, telegraphic transfers and transfers over $10,000. (Fees for overseastransactions are charged separately, but are not included in your fee-free limit - see “Local & International Payments and Foreign Currency Services” for details). ATMoperator direct charges may be applicable at non-Citibank and non-Partner ATMs. Balance enquiries are free of charge at Citibank and Partner ATMs unless stated
otherwise. *Partner ATMs include Westpac branded, St.George, Bank of Melbourne and Bank SA ATMs within Australia.

Does this mean that there ARE fees for overseas transactions? And that overseas ATM operators may still charge a fee which you are hit with? Thus making this account not quite fee free when overseas?

Any help appreciated.

There are no fees for debit card transactions or ATM withdraws using Citibanks ATMs at all, there is always the possibility third party ATMs will charge, and will warn you first.

Yes...but no product is going to get around that. The only place I find it pretty much unavoidable is Thailand where the 150THB is pretty much ubiquitous.

Just to be clear in most places you can use almost any ATM fee free, you don't have to hunt around for a Citibank ATM. So far I've used the card in the UK, China, Japan, Thailand and Indonesia, mostly at non Citi ATMs and the only ones which have attracted an operator fee have been in Thailand...the same would've applied to 28 degrees.

Received a letter from GE saying that they are going to close my account :(

They did not give any reason, not sure why:
* that I have load up the card too many times? At most 2x a year, and each time is for a short time and a few k only
* not used it enough? I use this card mostly for overseas spending

Will give them a call to see what can be done :(

That's not very nice - let us know what they say

Re: 28° Mastercard Cash Advances while overseas [No more free cash advances from 1/1/

I have the 28 Degree card and the Citibank Debit card. I think they work really well together. I tried using just a 28 Degree card a couple of years ago loaded with cash, but found the delay in posting transactions onto my account meant that I quickly lost track of balance. Since getting the Citibank Debit card, everything is sweet. The fx rates for both cards are almost identical. In the last 2 weeks, with the Euro @ ~ 0.69x, I have got high 0.68 to 0.69 on both cards.

Currently in Europe & UK, have not been charged ATM fees at any machine, but do recall ATM fee when in the US last year.

Woke this morning to SMS from 28 Degree fraud team citing "suspicious activity.....blocked your card". It's great that their on the ball, but when I phoned them, it was only 1 transaction that I tried to process yesterday that timed out waiting for their security code SMS to reach me. I advised them before travelling where i was going and for how long. The agent assures me that the card is now unblocked - fingers crossed 'cause I still have a couple more weeks to go.

Unless something has changed, AEON ATM's don't charge a fee. Though they are hard to find! I frequent the one in MBK mall.

Hey everyone.
Just had an experience purchasing LM with 28degree card where each transaction was charged a USD1 fee. I thought this was coming from LM - but have been told that it would be a credit card fee.
Have I missed something in my card set up that this fee is being charged?

Regards.

Maybe it's not from 28 degrees then...perhaps some sort of test auth or pre-auth by LM??

This is a test charge from Lifemiles to your credit card, in this case 28 degrees...it gets refunded from memory. The first time I used my 28 degrees MC to buy lifemiles, I had these funny $1 charges and a phone call from the fraud department from 28 degrees; after a long chat, it hasn't been a problem since tho. PS: to reduce your likelihood of your 28 degrees MC being blocked when buying lifemiles etc, try and use it within Australian business hours...that's what the fraud department told me.
