30000 bonus points - Foxtel

Two months here, still no sign of the points, just filed a retro claim :(

Really this is frustrating, it seems most things that credit points to velocity are tardy, and show up months later, if at all. It seems to actually get the points, you have to chase it up, and waste time online filing retro claims.. This is getting beyond a joke, please virginget your stuff together with these suppliers. If a customer uses your program and books with partners, there is a reason, it keeps us loyal to your program, if we don't get rewarded, we will switch back to the other program, in which case, our flights will go there too!
I do understand these are external businesses, however, if points are offered, then it's not unreasonable to expect that the points be credited within a reasonable timeframe, not just whenever the customer whines and coughes about not getting them!
thankyou for reading my whine!

I'm the same! Coming up to 3 months now. Not a peep. I've spoken to Foxtel, Virgin, sent emails and no response. Each company keeps blaming each other.

Have you done the retro claim on Velocity site? Just curious, I havnt contacted anyone, just jack of waiting so filled in a retro claim online. As a side note, Hertz Points from december came through today, some 3 months after earning them. If that was my business, (Velocity rewards is a business), I would be rather unhappy with the way it was being run.

took about 6 weeks for my points to show no chasing or claims made i guess i was just lucky. Everything else i put a missing points claim in straight away and just harass them, crazy though that we all have to keep chasing these issues up badly run business

I have an existing (2 year) service and am out of contract.

I called earlier this month and asked along the lines of "If I agreed to recontract for another twelve months, could I do it in line with this deal and earn the 30,000 points.".

To cut to the chase, skipping the details of the 25 minute 'phone call, my re-contract will commence on the monthly billing date later this month and the points should post within ten business days of that.

What price or what package is everyone paying with Foxtel. I know the pricing is getting cheaper due to the new Free to air TV channels now available but I am generally interested in the CNN, BBC and other news services.

I had a look at the Foxtel options and all seemed to point to paying the higher price and I really only wanted the basic package.

Totally sucks that this offer is restricted to Foxtel ,living in regional Victoria I only get pay tv via Austar which has the same content as Foxtel
but I'm not eligible to take out this offer-Foxtel only.
30,000 Velocity points would be really handy too.
Cheers

Don't worry too much, they don't seem to want to pay out the points without a fight, and much too and fro :(

Happy to report that I have recieved my Foxtel Points. Was contacted by a very pro-active Virgin AUstralia, and the matter was resolved within a few days. Thanks ""Virgin Australia"" for your efforts, without even being prompted.
Credit where credit is due, they contacted me, and asked how they could fix it, I didnt instigate the process, they did. Very Impressed :)

It only took three days after the monthly date for the 30k to post.:D

Just re-discovered this thread and am going to give this a go.
We have 2 Foxtel boxes on the Platinum iQ package and have been out of contract with them for years.
IIRC the last time we upgraded to IQ they wanted to charge the set-top box fee ( was being given free at the time to new subscribers) so I called up the Cancel My Foxtel Number and got them for nix ;)

Had a very pleasant exchange today when I called up to re-contract.
New HD box being installed on Monday and assured the Velocity points will be forthcoming :D

Is that through Foxtel direct , as I was out of contract and renegotiated a new one through Telstra Foxtel?
Unfortunately I may have discovered this forum and thread too late!

Got my points on Monday after being connected last Thursday. Although I wonder if email them asking to confirm that I was eligble for the points once I got connected before hand may have assisted in getting my points in a timely manner.

For new connections you couldnt get any other discounts/offers if accepting the points offer so I just signed up on the basic package.
Now I have my points, Im going to contact them looking to negotiate a deal to upgrade my basic package with a discount.

The points offer is not available, as I understand, to customers who subscribe to Foxtel through Telstra unfortunately due to a whole different set of pre-existing commercial arrangements.

If you're out of contract and looking to negotiate a new deal there is a good thread over at the Whirlpool forums titled "Foxtel Bargaining" that will certainly give you some good tips as to what peeps are getting at the moment.
I would post the link but my post count isnt high enough yet - the price I pay for too much lurking and not enough contributing!

Just got off the phone with Foxtel. After customer service refused to give me the Velocity Points as I was an existing customer (only just, made the last payment of my first 12 month contract earlier today!), I asked to be put through to disconnections where a more sensible bloke was only too happy to extend the offer if I re-contracted for another 12 months at a minimum of 45$/month for the basic package.

Took down the Velocity Membership Number, and the points should hit my account after the new contract kicks in.

Nice, I tried that and was refused and I was paying $72 per month...

I have since cancelled Foxtel but may sign up again for 30,000 points

Golden rule while dealing with Foxtel. If at first you don't get what you want, ring back and try again. As long as what you are asking for isn't entirely absurd (eg. Platinum HD pack for half price or something, not that you would!); you'll usually find someone somewhere who'll do you a deal.
