Dunno, but it was a 12 month contract (which is up) - so will be trying again soon.

Foxtel are now telling me, after a month, I am no eligible for the promotion because part of my package includes a discounted sports pack. I sent a polite email and received a call this morning to say they are looking into it. If I have to I'll cancel and put in a new order in a few days on the full priced sports pack (an extra $12 per month). I really need the 30k points for an upcoming J flight to coughet I want to book!

Received this today from Foxtel:

Dear Strongarm,

Thank you for your email.

This is to confirm your telephone conversation with xx_ on Friday about theoffer that you subscribed under. You've received a discount of $50 off the HDupgrade fee in addition to a half price ($12.50) discount on one option for 6months.

It isn't possible to have two offers together and so you're unable toreceive the Volocity Frequent Flyer points.

Whilst it'd be disappointing, if you'd like to arrange disconnection you cancall one of our disconnections team on 131999 Monday to Friday betwen 9am and9pm AEST.

We do hope you will continue to enjoy your Foxtel.

Kind regards

Foxtel

I had a lot of time to kill at BNE airport on Friday so rang Foxtel and asked the CSA if I'd be eligible for the 30,000 points offer for re-contracting.

The CSA insisted this wasn't possible although he was happy to discuss discounting my package. I requested a disconnect as I advised I'd prefer the 30000 points to a discount, and would disconnect and possibly re-contract.After some gentle debate, the CSA said he'd check with his manager to see if I could have the 30,000 points as a one-off for re-contracting.

After a few minutes on hold, the CSA confirmed a 12 month contract and advised the 30000 points would be credited.

Now to wait for the points to credit....(I'm not feeling optimistic - of the 3 of us travelling on the VA ANZ codeshare on Friday, only my SCs and points have credited, the other 2 (1 on the same PNR, the other a different PNR) are still waiting)...

The sh!te i went through with this mob to try and get this 30k offer... Called up in July to see if i could get the 30k without having to disconnect but no, of course not even after several calls with just monthly discounts being offered (so nice to read that the pr!cks can do it when you get the right manager with half a brain cell)... So i was going overseas anyway for a bit over a month, so went through all the rigamarole of closing the account, getting a family member to send the box and cords and all back in them (my contract finished on the day i left) so then of course i had to pay the $75 fee to get the new box when i re-signed up for the deal after being disconnected 30 days to be considered a new customer...

I then asked if i could pre schedule a new connection for the day i arrived back in the country and get someone out to install the new equipment hopefully straight away... No, can't prearrange a day to have a new connection, had to wait till i get back into the country and then call up and state that i want to rejoin and then a technician would come around at the first possible opportunity.. So several days later one rocks up...

Low and behold that night i come home and the box is reading that the card isn't working or something, so i call up and they tell me just hold a couple of buttons and the machine will reset which i do... Of course it becomes an almost every day event to come home and the stupid thing isn't working, so i send them an email of precisely what i think of their equipment (and on their facebook page as well) and the guy comes back out a couple of days later with a new box and card... They at least gave me half a months credit for their dodgy, coughpy install...

But how simple would it have been just to be recognised as an existing customer and at several stages a bit of brains used!?!?! Still don't know if the velocity points have hit the account so that will probably be the next round with these muppets...

Presumably they are trying to discourage people from doing the contract shuffle to get 30k points per annum included with their Foxtel. Maybe instead of putting everyone through this they should just state in the t and c that bonus points are for new customers who have never had the bonus points previously.

Don't feel too bad!

I tried and tried and tried about a year ago to get the points as an existing customer and it was a NO, they just kept offering $10 per month off which doesn't interest me when 30k points is about $1200 of value.

Funnily enough I haven't missed it at all

However, you could sign up, wait for the 30K points and cancel for $300.......

Was thinking about getting foxtel again after not having it for a couple of years. Can you get any package to get the 30k points? was thinking of going on the $72 per month movies and drama pack. Also if i do sign up how long after are the points credited to the account?

You're unlikely to get the 30000 points if you also want a discounted package. I don't think there is any consistency to how long the points take to credit. My recent experience was pretty fantastic at 5 days.

This is an old thread but seems ok to continue on the general theme Foxtel. After recently upgrading bundle with Bigpond I was given an Telstra Tv basically a Roku platform. Was pleasantly surprised when going to cancel my current subscription. Received extra programming for no extra cost so this will come in useful as an extra stream for the house as the main stream will be via bigpond - Foxtel on Roku Telstra.
