Re: 40,000 sign up bonus on NAB premium Velocity and Qantas Crads

Just wondering if your sign on points turned up yet?

No not yet. With them saying it may take until another statement cycle I'm not expecting anything until the last week of June, as that's when points came through in May.

In other slowness, I applied for the Velocity card on the 2nd of June and haven't heard a peep yet (other than the first email that says "we'll be in touch"). Although there was a long weekend in there so that may draw it out a bit.

Pretty tiresome actually.

Re: 40,000 sign up bonus on NAB premium Velocity and Qantas Crads

By memory, I signed up early/mid May and points including bonus showed up 27th May.

Re: 40,000 sign up bonus on NAB premium Velocity and Qantas Crads

I applied for the velocity and got approved but they knocked back the application for the QF card :(

Re: 40,000 sign up bonus on NAB premium Velocity and Qantas Crads

Anything stopping me from opening this card, getting the points and then closing it straight away to get a refund on the annual fee?

I wouldn't think there is nor with any other card. It all comes down to whether they would give you a refund of the annual fee.

Cancel and refund simple straight forward process - provided CC provider agrees to refund annual fee. Refund by way one of 2 means:
1. You have another CC from same provider and provider agrees to transfer refund across to that card
2. You agree to keep card going foward and CC provider refunds annual fee into your card - you then spend refund and then decide to cancel or keep
Either way YOU must make it happen - nothing TOPPING you - NIKE - JUST DO IT!

Re: 40,000 sign up bonus on NAB premium Velocity and Qantas Crads

I checked with their 'virtual assistant' and it says that the annual fee is applied in the first month you use your card, and then every year on the same month.

Theoretically should be possible for you to sign up, grab the points, not use the card and then cancel once the points hit your account.

Doesnt necessarily work that way.

I have the QF card (got it early May)...back then the promo was 10k bonus points.

The fee was charged in the very first statement, but the bonus points didn't appear until yesterday (halfway into second statement cycle).

The bonus points can be credited "any time in the first three statement cycles" according to the CSR.

If you close the card, you will receive a pro-rated refund of the annual fee though. So for the Velocity Plat, if you pay $150 and close the account after 2 months, you would be given back $125.

With me it was the other way around - got the QF card but got bumped back for Velocity. I'll cancel the QF after bonus points have hit and try again.

Maybe they have run out of points to give away ;)

Looks like I've been approved after all of that! Logged into NAB online today and all of a sudden there's a new credit card account listed.

Guys, where do you see the bonus points? I can't see anywhere to track rewards points on nab online. And how do we check if the credit card account is linked to my qff number correctly?

You had to give them your QFF number on sign up. You can rung them and find out. The points auto sweep into your QFF account. So check them after your first statement.

Thanks. so points come to qff account as a whole (i.e. monthly)? That means we can't check/confirm points earned from individual transactions?

Applied for the NAB Velocity Premium on Tuesday and got approved instantly.

Cards came today without a letter of offer. Is this normal for NAB?

Also it's telling me to refer to the letter of offer for instructions on how to activate so I suppose I won't be activating my
40k points till said letter arrives some time next week. How counterintuitive!

I got my cards today too, also with a reference to letter of offer (that I haven't yet received), but it seemed no activation was necessary. So I just signed the cards and went shopping and they worked straight off. I'm quite taken aback by that - it seems anyone could have pulled the cards out of my mailbox and used them. I can't remember the last time I got any new cards from any other provider that didn't have to be activated before use.

My cards came pre-activated. Used straight away. Maybe because I'm already a nab customer??? Not sure.

I'm an existing NAB customer too, but that shouldn't matter - the point of activation is to make sure the cards have been received by the intended recipient.

The piece of paper that came with the cards alluded to the fact that only new customers need to present ID at a branch to activate the cards. No other activation process was outlined. From the comments above I'm assuming I need to visit a branch but I'm a current NAB customer. I've not had any credit card with them before so maybe that's why?

Tried using the cards online to buy movie tickets with Events Cinemas and neither worked.
