Annual fee charged. 2nd last day of 2nd statement cycle.

And points already posted to VFF - 1 day after end of cycle :D

Can confirm annual fee does not attract points (obviously) but every dollar i've put through the card did (statement (minus annual fee) x 1.5 = points posted to VFF) - i'm impressed.

The piece of paper that came with the cards alluded to the fact that only new customers need to present ID at a branch to activate the cards. No other activation process was outlined. From the comments above I'm assuming I need to visit a branch but I'm a current NAB customer. I've not had any credit card with them before so maybe that's why?

Tried using the cards online to buy movie tickets with Events Cinemas and neither worked.

I have never been a NAB customer and was able to use my card as soon as it was delivered.

Yep I am not NAB customer and I got both QFF and VFF sets and used both without further ado. Westpac cards you do indeed need to take into bank to activate - and if AMEX / Visa or MC combo then you need to take the Visa or MC card in - but NAB never - just spend away.

Right. So apparently a "2nd level verification block" has been placed on my card after the cards were sent out. I need to *FAX* in proof of income to lift the block.

Why this wasn't part of the application process prior to approval or even dispatch of cards is confounding. It's probably because my NAB accounts have had no activity in them for ages and so doesn't quite match up with the income details I provided (ceased banking with them after they devalued the Gold banking but couldn't be bothered going to a branch just to close my account). Still what a convoluted and confusing customer journey!

Definitely canceling after the points post!

Thinking again on this last night - I don't think you do need to go into bank to 'activate' but you definitely need Visa or MC into branch to select / change PIN - sorry if I confused anybody.

Bonus points finally arrived today for the QF card - must be the third or fourth last day of second statement cycle. Slooow!

So if you're still waiting, just be patient. It seems like they'll come eventually.

No annual fee yet so I'll cancel in a few days and see if they'll let me have the velocity one :)

I got approved for the Velocity one, only picked a $1,000 limit to minimise my chances of getting knocked back for the Qantas one.

The website says that the bonus points are not available in conjunction with any other offer. I read this as being another offer with the same card, i.e. a balance transfer offer, rather than not being able to get the bonus points on a completely separate card. Anybody else read it this way?

A good way to encourage banks to not have sign up offers....
Or a good way to keep building those pts balances - FWIW Leroy I have both sets and will be cancelling both sets as soon as pts appear in QFF and VFF - hopefully will get pro-rata refund on annual fees also.

Will this course of action lead to banks discontinuing bonus pts offers? IMHO little chance - the % of churners I have been told is quite low - worst case scenario again IMHO would for individuals to be red flagged. If this happens - it happens - no biggie for me - we move on and find other ways to cultivate and harvest FF pts. I do love this game.

Just checked my account.. and points posted today!

A week after receiving my 1st statement.

So I faxed over the requested paperwork, and got a call the next day to say the card is all good to go. After making a sarcastic quip about the apparent need to fax - got told that I could have emailed which completely contradicted what the first operator advised. Bought new hair product and deodourant off Strawberrynet (via the Velocity E-Store for an extra 2 Points / $ of course) which should do the trick for the 40k bonus.

I got approved for the Velocity card. A week later I applied for the Qantas one, and had to provide verification of my address. Very strange to ask this of an existing customer.

Just some questions wondering if any one has had any luck with getting the pro-rata refund on annual fees or has full annual fee been charged before cancelling? Has anyone cancelled one card first say the qantas then applied for the virgin one after? Do you have to call to cancel cards or can it be done online? Thanks :)

I received my first satement. Shows Spent $1.50, Earned 1 QFF point. No sign of 40,000 bonus points. Checked QFF website it only shows 1 point too. Anybody in the same boat?

Pts earn on $ spend posted May 29 - 40K bonus pts posted Jun 25.

First statements for both QF and VA card suites arrived last week - both balances paid off.
- QF statement had $250 annual fee in total - did not pay it - called up today and cancelled and had annual fee reversed - all done - 40K pts for zip.
- VA statement did not have $150 annual fee in total - called up today and cancelled - noted that no annual fee levied so hopefully will not see it appear as I am cancelling - was assured that indeed will not be levied - all done - 40K pts for zip.

Next please?

Did you have to provide any reason for cancelling?

Well you never actually have to - but I did:
- QF - I was very happy with the NAB QF Amex / Visa combo BUT due to recent enhancements of QFF program I will no longer be chasing QFF pts
- VA - I was very happy with the NAB QF Amex / Visa combo BUT due to recent dispute my company had with VA we will no longer be flying VA

Haha, the answer is perfect. Did they offer you anything to stay such as waive the annual fee?

They did ask was I interested in one of their other cards - my answer to both was maybe - but I would need a few days to formulate a policy for future card usage - in both cases the annual fees were waived.
