5,000 bonus points each on up to 3 international Qantas Hotels bookings (book by 5/8/24)

I have thought of an easy way for both wife and I to get the maximum points. We have 2 stays coming up in January and April.

For January

Book 2 nights in wife's name
Book 2 nights in my name
Book 2 nights in wife's name

For April

Book 2 nights in my name
Book 2 nights in wife's name
Book 2 nights in my name

Just call the hotel and let them know to reserve same room for entire stay.

Made two bookings for our end of year trip yesterday based on the original email so will be irritated if I’m forced to fight for the points. Have just moved the email out of the deleted folder and saved for reference. 🤬

This is good to call out.

If you book, for example, 2 consecutive one-night stays, the hotel sees them as separate "stays" unless you tell them otherwise.

I've done this when using Hilton reward points to book a couple of nights, joined to a few paid nights to make up a 5 night stay. Room key stopped working after the first "stay".

Trudged down to reception, fortunately the same room was available, and the key was reprogrammed.

You can look forward to a lengthy wait on hold unless in the top 1% off status members (now confirmable via the QF App) followed by the charming incompetence of an offshore Qantas Call Centre.

If nothing else, at least the misinformation, lies and stuff arounds <redacted> brand values. What’s not to like?

I received the original email at 8:19am on 31 July, which includes the original T&C as posted by @Mattg stating the booking window is "from 12:01 am (AEST) 30 July 2024 until 11:59 pm (AEST) 5 August 2024".

Then made three legitimate bookings for my upcoming trip, each well over the A$100 recently added limit, and each with full intention of staying - they are in fact non-refundable so definitely planning to stay.

Booking 1 confirmation email received at 9:32am 31 July
Booking 2 confirmation email received at 3:57pm 31 July
Booking 3 confirmation email received at 9:46pm 31 July

My stays are all in August 2024.

I did use a $100 voucher for booking #1 and a $50 voucher for booking #2.

I had other fully flexible bookings already booked directly with the hotel program for these stays. I was watching the stay pricing and rebooking as the prices dropped closer to travel. And I was about to convert some of the stays to non-refundable if a better deal was found. So the opportunity to get a better price (using the vouchers) and earn some bonus points made it a no-brainer for me.

And the 15K bonus points will get me very close, if not just over the line for PC+ renewal by the end of September. Hoping the last of the stays will receive the bonus points in 4 weeks rather than 6 week per T&C, otherwise it will be a 5K kick-start to PC renewal for next year.

In my experience of booking consecutive 1 night stays the majority of hotels have recognised and have given me the same room for duration of stay. A few times they've fixed at check-in and there have been a few times where I've had to change rooms one time as my room was allocated to someone else.

This time around I'm trying something I've never done before with bookings in my name and wife's name.

Jumped on the chat and have confirmation that I will receive the points. Agent looked at my two bookings and presumably was able to see some kind of flag for eligibility. Whether I am actually credited the points remains to be seen but in any event, the chat transcript is saved for future reference if required.

I may be wrong but when I read the special conditions on Q website it had to be booked between 1/8 and 5/8 for a stay before 5/8, I better check the terms again 🙄

Yeah, but 5/8 2025.

Not totally surprising but some hotels I recently considered booking via Qantas Hotels before this offer have increased in price for the same date compared to before the offer yet some have not changed.

Qantas Hotels is pretty much a front for Expedia, most of the time the prices will be identical between the two but sometimes they do not match. I've checked a few hotels that I recently booked and two had identical pricing but one was about 10% higher on Q Hotels. Expedia offers member pricing and cashback offers so if you rely on those then I doubt booking with Q Hotels will ever be cheaper.

I found a hotel I could use for exactly $100, then I was going to book it and it priced at $99.20 with 297 normal QF points on offer. Probably enough for "the computer to say no" and mess up the bonus. The next category up is $20 more and I don't need it.

As far as I'm concerned, there are two separate promos at play here.

The first promo:

Qantas Frequent Flyer members will earn 5,000 bonus Qantas Points on any international Qantas Holidays and Qantas Hotels booked through qantas.com/holidays and qantas.com/hotels from 12.01 am (AEST) 30 July 2024 until 11.59 pm (AEST) 5 August 2024 for travel up until 5 August 2025 ... There is no minimum spend threshold to be eligible to earn bonus points ...

A minimum spend of A$100 applies per booking.

Different dates, different conditions, different promos.

My take is that the first promo applies for Jul 30/31, and was replaced by the second promo for Aug 1/2/3/4/5

While I have some sympathy for Dangers view my question is still about what you value your time at. In my opinion the only thing you can be sure of when banging your head against a brick wall is that you will end up with a very sore head!

New Red Tail Sale email just arrived with new T&Cs. I just wish there was some way to add $1 to a booking that says $100 in the listing but reverts to $99.20 if I try to book it. Room already has breakfast and free cancellation. Adding one other person, even a baby bumps it up to $129. I’ve seen hotel prices fluctuate with currency rates, not sure which currency Qantas Hotels uses, Expedia USA or currency of the hotel location. The one I want is in Chile.

How annoying! I wanted to book a car using the recent Amex/Hertz offer ($250/$50 and the cost was $249.xx. The next price above $250 was a worse car for some reason and after that it was barely worth it. Irritating to say the least.
