5,000 bonus points each on up to 3 international Qantas Hotels bookings (book by 5/8/24)

How annoying! I wanted to book a car using the recent Amex/Hertz offer ($250/$50 and the cost was $249.xx. The next price above $250 was a worse car for some reason and after that it was barely worth it. Irritating to say the least.
In your case maybe you could inch it up a bit by adding a 2nd driver (who doesn't show up), insurance or some accessory like a car seat or something? I hate the XX.99 practice in general, they aren't fooling anyone and it's a pita!

I have tried now, hitting "pay now" over 20x times using 5 different credit and debit cards, amex, visa, MC and I cannot get their stupid website to process the booking.

I've tried VPN (I'm overseas), I've run out of ideas. Via website, via the app.... it never works! Why is it this hard?

This is for legit bookings, over $100 per booking as I am travelling now.1000034364.jpg

I'm going to Bali next year and found a hotel in Qantas Hotels for $120 for 4 nights. Will this work, or does it have to be $100 per night?

This is typical of Qantas. A business with billion in in profit each year but can't set up a proper website.

@zan5hin, if you try another web browser such as Firefox, it will work.

I received the original email at 8:19am on 31 July, which includes the original T&C as posted by @Mattg stating the booking window is "from 12:01 am (AEST) 30 July 2024 until 11:59 pm (AEST) 5 August 2024".

And the 15K bonus points will get me very close, if not just over the line for PC+ renewal by the end of September. Hoping the last of the stays will receive the bonus points in 4 weeks rather than 6 week per T&C, otherwise it will be a 5K kick-start to PC renewal for next year.
I recently learned with Qantas Hotels, it is accrual date, not date posted, so my understanding would be that you should be OK with retaining PC+ @NM

If points posted after anniversary, they will show on activity statement but not on your PC/PC+ tally.

I have now tried using Anydesk to portal into my dad's desktop PC sitting in Melbourne, using his Chrome browser and then trying my credit card and it failed AGAIN. also tried my mum's credit card. Failed again.

That triggered a Qantas email to me "unusual account activity" (was it you)

I now have to call QFF +612 number Monday morning Australia time (as if that will help)

It does not work with Google Chrome. Have you tried Firefox or Internet Explorer?

It might be because you put 4 digits in the CVC field.

So I have made 6 bookings in Thailand for Dec/Jan and April and split these for both wife and I, earning 30,000 QFF points.

Had the same issue on my wife's account, could not book any hotels and tried various cards including mine which worked 5 mins later when booking a stay on my account. Haven't bothered to see what's causing the issue but would be good to know, from what I can see a bunch of people on Ozb had issues with processing payments as well.

I have my 3 bookings for different places in Chile in October. Still annoyed that in one place I had to pay $27 extra for a double room because the single room was $99.20.

I booked a 3 night stay as 3 single night bookings. Hopefully it won't be an issue.

Ok I have just called qantas travel multiple times and it has been a nightmare. I might lodge an official complaint. All over Skype as I am overseas.

1st call - explain my cards all give me error codes. Give last few digits, confirm some details, put on hold. Disconnected by Qantas.
2nd call - same thing. They keep asking about all the different cards I used like five different cards and if there were any other cards and I keep trying to explain that it's not my cards it's your platform. I get put on hold and then disconnected by Qantas again
3rd call - same issue now I'm talking again to the first lady and she is trying to coordinate with a higher team whoever that is. Again asking me about which cards I'm using and the last digits and if there are any other cards and I just start losing patience. After being put on hold again she comes back and says that the problem has been solved and if I wait 20 minutes I will be able to make transactions.

I log in and successfully make two hotel bookings!

After my friend who visited is gone I'll try to login to make the third booking and now it says "your account cannot be used for online access".

I now have to call the frequent fly service center and verify my DOB, email, change my PIN number and answer my three security questions and then complete two one-time passwords and then I need to change all three security questions to new ones. All for no reason - it's an effing nightmare.

Now I can go back to the hotel website but the website is now crashing with a message that says come back later.

Eventually the website comes back up and what do you know? Trying to hit pay now and I'm getting the error codes again with my credit cards.

Call the travel team again and another 15 minutes either explaining or on hold and now I get a beauty of a response.... Maybe someone put notes on my account that I am rude?

BUT I used to work in a call center and I really tried not to raise my voice whenever I'm talking to people in this job, and I never swear at them directly but - you have to understand this was already the 2-hour mark of calling and speaking to people. I used to live in Manila, I have Filipino friends who work in these places.

The customer service agent states "we put your details in the system and the system won't let us proceed - we suggest that you book externally if you really want the reservation"

What in God's name does that mean?

I asked if there was someone who could take the booking over the phone and lo and behold I was transferred to someone in Australia who had access to the hotel booking system so I tell him exactly what I've been going through - and just say mate help me make this booking so he finds the hotel in his system and in the last 15 minutes of going through all this drama - The price of the hotel on his end has gone up 10%. I refresh on my end and it's going up 10%.

But then I refresh again as he's grabbing my details and it goes back to the original price so I asked him to refresh on his end and he says it's still the higher price. I asked him just to hold on a minute maybe I will try my credit card again to work now but it doesn't work and it just as I inform him with that he hung up on me!

Tried calling the hotel team went last time and got the same answer about the fact that they put my details in the system and it won't let them and if I want to proceed then I should book externally.

I've never heard so much Malarky in my life. Honestly the points are not worth the hassle and it's making reconsider if I really want to keep earning Qantas points altogether.

Qantas has won, it cost me about 5 dollars in Skype credit + a bit of my sanity for 10k points if they post.

Had some similar dramas while searching hotels through safari on the MacBook Pro and iPhone. Trying to make some genuine bookings for Indonesian and Nepal for a trip coming up in a few months. I've given up as I keep getting errors on the site and having to constantly refresh only for it to crash properly when trying to make payment. Honestly not worth the stress and hassle for 15k points. I'll bounce back to booking.com as it's been the most solid experience even if they don't offer rewards.

Yes I have done same with bookings in Thailand.

Though nights 1 & 3 were me. Night 2 my wife's account.

Emailed the hotel requesting them to merge the three bookings into one. They have confirmed that we will get all 3 nights in the same room.

Also have booked 1 more night in Rome.

With all 4 nights the Qantas site was more expensive by good margins. The 5000 points put me in front. Though if I had to have booked the 3 nights as a single booking I would not have done it through.

Have done 2 qualifying bookings and no issues thus far.

It’s been especially useful booking via Qantas hotels as I’m not especially worried over the amount involved and it’s converted into $A AND DOES NOT INCUR the extra 3% foreign transaction fee for Offshore bookings because QF is an Aussie based merchant so I don’t cop the extra CC charges.

the hotels I been staying are somewhere between A$75 & A$140 per night and a couple of bookings have included breakfast for that price. ($5 per person per night) Would never buy breakfast in Germany though as that’s just way OVER-priced and you can walk around the corner and score Brekky for 10 Euros

Here in Rome it’s barely $120 per night with breakfast (2 of us) and includes a decent air conditioning (and average shower) then the 7 day transport card is 24 Euros so it’s been a bargain stay - however defo less than impressed with Rome itself …. Sighs
