5 status credits short for platinum renewal... any chance of Qantas 'gifting' those?

It's not unknown for The Big Red Roo to accomplish such feats of donating a missing 5 SC. But asking can not harm you. There is a department official I had spoken to previously whose sole purpose is to assess you in totality as a frequent Flyer. And the chances of flying vigoursly in the next 12 months.

Any update on this?

My Platinum renewal is due on 31 DEC and I'm at 1199 (yes, 1 SC short!).

I have re-qualified for Green Tier and have not selected the bonus, but would rather get the 50 SC in the new year if possible.

Gotta risk it for the biscuit @kamb1ng

I imagine if QF will give you a freebie, it will be before 31 DEC, but there’s only one way to find out!

Absolutely reach out by email without delay. Don't mention the green tier

Yeh give it a go, but if you are really needing those 50SC to requalify next year then you aren’t at the top of the food chain.

OT but I read elsewhere on SM that the number of P1s has thinned out quite considerably since they stopped the Covid rollovers. I would think that Plat would be the same. Not saying that the OP is in that category of course.

If only 1 QFF SC short, and its end of Dec, how about an SC, that would guarantee the WP tier.
A short hop, (assuming) you live in a capital city, with JQd in a fare with QFF earn bundle would/shhould do the trick.
If on contact, QFF say no to a "gift" that is, then only option is to fly 2 sectors.

Sorry all... I've been back and forth overseas for family emergencies (so will have no problem hitting Platinum renewal this year, I'd say).

Update is that I called and requested, and was told it was "too early to ask and basically no" as I still had 3 weeks left. As I'm LTG, I honestly didn't want to book a random flight somewhere as I'll always have access to a lounge. In any case, I waited until a week before my status was due and called again, asked, and the lovely agent on the phone told me that the 5 SC had been gifted to me the day earlier! Lo and behold, when I checked my app I had received the 5SC.

Closing the loop on this one. Received a reply as follows:

You are indeed qualified for our current Tier Generosity program, which allows us to assist our members in maintaining their existing status for an additional 12 months. The system will automatically process this extension; however, if it does not occur, please do not hesitate to contact us for further review.

I suppose I'll find out on 1 JAN.

Nice to know.

I would have done a MEL-SYD return trip for 10 SC.
