60 AA miles / $

Can you kindly explain how a MyUS account works ?
Cheers

There are a number of forwarders that effectively rent you a US address and then you get them to on ship your order.

Aadvantage e Shop has current promotion for magazines.com where you earn 60miles for every dollar spent. With this, 1000miles will cost about US$16.7 which I think is cheaper than the 50% bonus promotion AA sometimes runs. The e-shop also has a promotion where you get 750 bonus points for a spend of $75, 1500 points for a $150 spend, and 2500 points for $250 spend. The sweet spots are if you spent exactly $75, $150 or $250 when the cost per mile should be even lower, at around US$14.3 per 1000.
I think for us in Australia the kicker is that magazines.com will only deliver to the US, so will not get the magazines you pay for..

Hopefully this might be useful for someone who needs some cheapish miles!

OP, AA on twitter thanked you for sharing this tip!

Will they accept AUS credit card though?

Will freight forwarders ie. MYUS ship within the US (if you wanted to donate the mags to someone) if you don't particularly want the mags enough to pay for the freight to AUS?

I guess you could use the concierge service from MYUS.

I never got any further than the bit that says:

1. Activation
You represent that you are a person of legal age in the state in which you live (generally at least 18 to 21, depending on the state) and are a legal resident of the United States or its territories.

Am I missing something?

Not at all! ;)

It is not a bad offer at all for all those who can't do BIS miles on AA tickets, only I just recently finished a long multicity 60k AA ticketed flight staggered over a few weeks that with status (100%) bonus earned 170,000k miles (where I passed 75k and 125k marks with 20k and 30k bonus) for about 2700 US dollars, so I guess I would rather wait for these types of opportunities rather than any promotions these days.

Done......however I have found some unhappy customers who never received their AA points..........limited it to $150 and sent to my friend and her husband.........so not a total loss if the points don't post.

I was about to experiment with magazines.com, however, the check-out has the following rider

Automatic Renewal Service: By clicking Submit Order, you agree that now and prior to each renewal term Magazines.com will charge your credit/debit card at the low price in effect. You may at any time change your automatic renewal status in your Magazines.com account, or change your automatic renewal status or cancel your subscription by calling 1-800-MAGAZINES.

Also, after you select magazines.com from the AA e-shop portal (already logged in), you get diverted to the magazines.com website where you have to create a new account with no question / link to your AA account.

How would they know who you are to credit the bonus AA points ?

I am "on hold" at the moment.

Suspicious, at the least when they do not ask / know about your AA AC number.

tracking from the link you click on when logged in to the aadvantage eshopping website. this is how all shopping portals work .

why worried about auto-renewal? you can cancel the auto renewal right away

The comments on the blog article I linked to above says that you can go into your account before you checkout and cancel the auto renew before checkout.

Technically they use cookies and IP tracking and session IDs in URLs to track who you are.

Dale.

Maybe I'm a tech dinosaur but I'd prefer to manually link the AA membership with the purchases - peace of mind, really.

Like what happens when you buy miles, for example.

You don't. You take the gamble and jump in before the promo ends or the offer is reduced because they realise it's too generous (or add a cap of max points or something). Read the offer very carefully and decide whether you think its worth jumping in or not.

It is a form of gambling really - you hand over money on the risk that you will probably receive something more valuable in return. Some of these promos can be incredibly lucrative if you are smart/lucky enough.

as long as you don't choose something from the 'International' category or 'Journal' category you should be ok.

What's the best that you could come up with ?

For me, so far it is $251.92 which is $1.92 too much !

Could you cut it finer ?

For fun, really guys

PS: could not proceed - with an Aussie Visa "Your order could not be submitted. Please review your payment settings and try again. Thank you for your patience!"
