An update.

It appears my order has been cancelled without explanation. It could be they saw the delivery address for one lot (the FT poster) and/or saw the IP address was not in the US.

Oh well, easy come, easy go.

Someone touched base with them yesterday on Ft and were told they were happy to take orders from foreign cards for domestic delivery, suggest you send them an email.

I ordered yesterday, confirmed email by 9am. How did you get informed that your order was cancelled?

I placed the order around 9:00pm AEDT and received the cancellation email about 4:30am AEDT. Logging into my account on their website the order shows as cancelled too.

I might try another order with some different delivery addresses.

Care to tell us what type of address and CC you used to go ahead. ?

I got rejected with (a real) US address and both Oz CC / PayPal.

Thanks

Just hang up the phone to magazines.com

You can order with an Oz CC but it has to be done on the phone which means no AA bonus miles.

He confirmed all internet orders with a foreign CC will be rejected.

No alternative, he claimed.

Oh well. We lose another good offer on earning AA miles :(

Thinking about this last night... if you really want cheaper AA miles, take advantage of the USDM promo now.. It's a little more expensive that this promo but could be good for when everything transfer over hopefully at 1:1 !

I've been peeking at the AA chart and it seems very good value for even domestic/nz flights!

I am tempted to purchase some USDM miles but worried it won't be 1:1 to AA??

I am just repeating what has been said on these boards but apparently a CEO or some other high manager confirmed it would be 1:1

I think Markis10 wrote about it another thread...

Why are you worried, its already been confirmed by the CEOs that it will be 1:1 and we are not talking the QR CEO here.

I used a US address of a friend for both the delievery and billing, I used my WEDRCC for the purchase. It has come off my credit card but has not posted in the transactions as yet. I have not received an email advising it has been cancelled and just checked my account - order is completed and I have just changed the 7 magazines from auto renew to manual. Will delete my credit card in March after the orders start going out. The purchase was completed just over 24hrs ago.

Id be more concerned about the prospect of a UA style award chart savaging than a less than 1:1 transfer!

I wonder if it will still be ok to purchase using a US-issued credit card ?

But then if they check the IP address or see the address of the linked AA account the transaction might be cancelled or the points not awarded ?

Then it would be a total waste especially as I was considering to go hard. A tad frustrating I must say.

Who's interest would it be to restrict non-US residents from purchasing ? More money should be more money ?

Yes this is my concern too. I'm holding around 100k miles now but cautious of buying more.

How and why would having an Australian address be a problem ?
I can't see it written anywhere that you have to be a US resident to be eligible for this promo ?
I have never been denied joining any AA promotion only for US residents, but then my AA account has the mailing address of my US post box.

Has anyone bought digital magazine subscription? Could be a good way to get some actual value out of the purchase as well as getting the miles, unless this wouldn't be covered?
