Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Perth to Sydney is 2041 miles how many EQMs, EQPs and RDMs would an EXP earn when in M and H classes, one way?

M class EQM is 50% of base miles, EQP is the same as EQM, RDM (as EXP) earns 100% bonus
H class EQM is 100% of base miles, EQP is the same as EQM, RDM (as EXP) earns 100% bonus

You may get a few less base miles than what is shown on gcmap. It's not a route I have normally credited to AA so my last reference is ancient but was for 2038 base miles. The actual calculation of RDM is left as an exercise.

Hold should be around three days - generally expires midnight DFW time.

My only AAdvantage bookings have been made on line and with USD payment.
Lucky you don't need CX flights.

I spent 28 minutes on phone booking award BNE-SYD-HKG-BKK. Both of us having issues with accents. Itinerary looks OK. Not yet ticketed. I think 35,000 miles and AUD109 taxes. Wanted to book me on CX162 SYD-HKG but I insisted on QF127 as it was available.

Had a flight time change to a AA award booking advised today, now only have 90mins in transit from QF to CX in SIN, is that enough time for them to transfer luggage?.

plenty of time.

(I've had bags transferred in as little as 20 minutes in Singapore for SQ-SQ, so even allowing for different airlines, 90 minutes sounds like a lot of time!!)

Agreed- loads of time. Do CX and QF fly out of the same terminal?

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Thanks guys thought so, Mrs lime was having a panic attack.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Does one need to collect luggage from QF and then go to CX or would it be interlined onwards to HKG?.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Interline no problem (FWIW even if on separate tickets as it is Qantas to *O).

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Its on same PNR too. From what I see should be Ok.

And if it's not you can use my favourite feature of SIN airport. The transfer desk.

Failed me again 2 weeks ago although this time it could have been also been KUL that stuffed up.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Thanks guys.

The reason i asked, over the years long haul we always stop in a city on the way, so this time its rare for us as we are for once in transit.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Planning to fly to USA Sept 2016 - looking for 2 x J AA award tickets - notice that CX generally have 2 award J seats available most days (SYD-HKG-JFK) showing on their website with dates further out than AA's (similar to QF). Aust FF posts mention that those award seats showing on CX's website may not necessarily be available on AA's system - my question is when should I contact AA to see if award seats are available - when CX shows date I want to fly (with seats available of course) or wait approx another month for when AA's calendar catches up?

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Can't book anything more than 330 days out.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Are you aware that travelling to the US via HKG means you have to have 2 awards as transit through HKG is not allowed.

You will love CX J though.

You may get a brief window of opportunity when AA's own route of LAX-SYD comes online to book that routing as AA is very stingy with saver awards on their own metal.

Dale.

And for just a few dollars more (12,000 points) you can fly CX F for the trans-pac. It's probably one of the cheapest and best use of points.
