A couple of questions from an AAdvantage newbie

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

Thanks for the reply. The flight isn't for quite a while, was just curious and looking to mitigate all possible stuff ups - as Murphy's law tends to rule my daily life. I have managed to put in seat requests - am I still at risk of being bumped from my chosen seats by higher status pax at OLCI? I'm guessing using OLCI at the T-48hrs mark would be wise to lock in seats?

Your seats will hold provided you have reserved them via the CX website (I would never 100% trust selecting seats on a CX flight via say the QF or other website).

You can 'double-confirm' your seats once OLCI opens and enter in your advance pax info (in fact I don't think CX will let you complete check-in unless you do so).

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

I've just booked my first domestic AA fare and I cannot seem to add my AA booking on QF MMB. I've inputted my record locater (ie. booking reference) and surname on QF and BA with no luck. Any ideas how to do this?

AA don't use Amedeus that Qantas and BA use as their reservation systems that's why you can't add your AA PNR to Qantas MMB. And why would you even want to do it?

If you're crediting to AA then you don't want the booking anywhere near Qantas.

If you're crediting to QF then you don't need to enter it on Qantas MMB.

Just ensure that the booking shows the FF number of your desired program.

If you have booked through AA on an all QF itinerary then you can enter the AA number in QF MMB and it will appear. However, I prefer to call AA and get the Amadeus PNR and get AA to change my FF number to my QF number.

Having the Amadeus PNR means you can use checkmytrip.com to see that your booking is all correct.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

With entering your info for a CX flight we used the old fashioned method with our AA booking and I actually rang CX on the phone and got them to enter it all for me when the website wouldn't let me. They were very helpful on the phone and with VOIP these days the cost is very small.

I have also had great assistance from CX through Twitter - same goes for EK and AA.

Thanks. I'm planning to have the SC/points credited to QF hence I was checking whether I'll see it on QF MMB. I've checked on the AA 'Manage your Reservation' and it shows my QF membership so I guess it should credited as instructed.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

hey guys, i know similar questions have been asked previously about schedule changes and i now know about reissuing vs revalidation etc. thanks to all you guys.
i have an AA award redemption with a JAL sector
There has been a slight schedule change of only less than an hour with the JAL flight not affecting anything else.
Logging on to the AA website and pulling up my booking i can see that time change has already been updated on the AA booking

does this mean that AA has already revalidated the ticket? from what i've read here previously there won't be a need to reissue.

thanks!

Quick question:

How to keep alive miles about to expire?

These were US Air miles and I'm not rushing to book ticket yet.

If you are staying in a hotel or renting a car then just credit miles to AA.

There are many ways to get AA points, holiday check is easy and relatively fast.

Try printing the e-ticket from their "your booking' page.

Re: Couple of AAdvantage questions from a newbie to it

thanks for that serfty.
the e-ticket has all the correct times including the newly changed JAL flight segment - it also says ticketed but the date of ticketing is from a couple of months ago before the recent JAL change. is this correct for a ticket that is re-validated with new details rather than reissued?

Try printing the e-ticket from their "your booking' page.
