A tale of two children (in J)

I don't care if children are in the cabin as long as they are well behaved. Most are, but some are not and if they are not behaving they should be removed from the cabin

Can you explain how this would work in practice? If babies are crying in Economy would they be moved into Business?

Welcome @Zac_AU !!

Maybe a special family friendly flights and adults only flights. Which flights do you think will be charging a premium price?
Separate mini cabin wont stop a piercing cry.

I think most of the inflight bad behaviour are from adults behaving badly.

Again what airline is advertising peace and quiet in their J/F cabins?
This one?

How funny that there is a child in the picture though.

Yes indeed. But this was on SQ flying out of SIN.

To an overseas country though.

Babies are small, you'd just need a soundproofed section of overhead-locker near the bassinet mount-points. Job done!

yeah but we all know it’s just advertising blurb. Airlines guarantee nothing - not even getting you to your destination on the day you thought you would,. :)
Sure, but QS was saying that airlines don’t promise peace and quiet in J. It’s a bit like Qantas saying they are a full service airline when they run out of food in business class.

Still no promise of peace and quiet in that ad...

"Enhance your quality of sleep" . Depends on your starting point. And we all know what "enhance" mean in the airline industry. The enhancement might make the quality go from very sh***ty to a bit sh***ty. Still sh**ty
"Slumber is guaranteed to be uninterrupted" - yes by the cabin crew not knocking on the door when the do not disturb light is on. Every other disturbance is not stated and therefore not part of the guarantee

QF is very particular about not using the word "Sleep". The cabin crew use "rest" which is a lot more nonspecific than sleep

Into the Christmas Spirits already folks? My popcorn has run out

well they have run out of bubbly in F on multiple occasions in the past.

Also it says it will enhance the quality of your sleep, not that you would actually get sleep for the whole flight. 10 minutes sleep before the babies start crying, would meet their undertaking :)

I expect to get a quieter cabin in F and J, but like most expectations with airlines it doesn’t always happen.

I remember going from Sydney to Joburg one year. After the meal they dimmed the lights, per usual, so people could get some sleep. We took advantage of this as we had many hours travelling ahead of us after Joburg. We were in the small cabin in the nose. Unfortunately we had 4 people behind us who had been given upgrades (we knew this because they carried on very loudly about it). They were going to enjoy every second of their upgrade and partied all the way. C’est la vie - in with the ear plugs and get what rest you can :)

Very young children and babies should be banned from J and F - if airlines offered certain flights where they guaranteed no screaming kids in J I'd support them in a flash.

Even in economy, I reckon Airlines should have a seperate mini cabin to put all the parents with screaming babies in. Just something seperated. Win for the other passengers, and win for the parents who don't have to worry about upsetting other people.

Makes perfect sense, and why just restrict to J, if there is an F cabin that could be an option. ;):oops::rolleyes:

if there are little ones in J/F, the airline should move all the pax out of the cabin back into Y. Problem solved. :D:D:D

It would be very interesting to watch proceedings in J/F when a baby goes off:)

And try and discover the first person to lose it over a baby crying. Who they are, what makes them tick etc
I suspect most wont mind. And the person losing it is likely to be in the minority.

All they need to do is buy out the entire J cabin and then presto - instant child free premium cabin on the carrier of their choice. No need for anyone to be moved (not that there would be anyone to move) and no interruptions.

Maybe they can introduce therapy/comfort dogs. Not for the babies - because they would most likely continue their hollering, but for the adults about to become psychotic

Or maybe a Adult Safe Space. Separate to the toilets where they can headbutt the the padded walls

Or take a private jet!!! Commercial airline travel still is essentially transport of the masses.

I honestly believe that if someone goes in with an attitude that children will upset them, the moment that person sees a child, it will upset them. They will be listening for every last whimper from the child. I think taking a much more lenient attitude, and having a starting point of not worrying about it helps 99 times out of 100.

Why do people pay the big, big bucks for Business? Well, for me, it's the bed. That's it, the only reason. Being able to sleep is key, the rest of it is just add-ons. The first time I flew in Business, I was stunned to discover that someone had a young child there, and it was noisy for the entire Au to US flight. $8 grand down the gurgler.
You're lucky I fly economy. If I was flying business you wouldn't be concerned with my 2 year old daughter keeping you awake but more concerned about my snoring keeping you awake.

Here's the thing about planes and noise. It's unavoidable unless you can grab your own suite and block all the noise out.
