AAdvantage award Devaluation - Bookings from Mar 22nd 2016

FWIW in the remaining 3 days before the Great DevaluAAtion, and for those looking to book Etihad apartments well into 2017, I've noticed a pattern which I've taken advantage of to snag Apartments to and from Australia for several trips. Up until a couple of weeks ago, Etihad would load 2 First seats on the A380 at exactly 5pm (AEDST) via Etihadguest.com. I checked that AA could not see them as available at 4:59, but when 5pm ticked over they refreshed their screen and there they were ready to be plucked from inventory and duly redeemed as part of an AA award.

But, in the past week or two that window of availability seems to have been brought forward to 4pm. Use to your advantage if you can.

I just wish they would release some F award for the first 2 weeks of Febuary :-(

The latetst you will get EY First for today is from February 1st. When analyzing the inventory release pattern per my post above, I noticed that for some reason AA does not see EY long haul First class inventory (eg AUS-AUH) 330 days out as you'd typically the expect. It's more like 310 days out. That said, other flights are at 330 days out (eg. AUH-MUC).

So Croupier, with 3 days remaining, I suggest you rethink your dates if you have your heart set on long haul first class EY redemption via AA because it wont show up for those first two weeks of Feb that you want.

I've decided to hop along via Asia 2 with 2 23hr lay overs BKK and HKG 2 flights totaling 10hrs in F the rest in J, just hope the seats are still there because I can't book till tomorrow, last flight is on the 14th Feb.

Bugger looks like the seats I wanted are gone now, oh well I'll come home in TG F for 40K and save my AA miles for a F award to Tokyo some other time.

FWIW no hold time when I was on the phone to AA just before.

I priced up an IB VIE-MAD-LHR J x 2 however taxes are very similar to BA going through LHR.

I can't seem to find anything via HEL and I'm looking first week of January so it's pretty tough.

Just booked (or at least it is placed in the ticketing queue) an EY F booking.

Down to 30k points now, and I don't think I can think of something to spend it on before the deval sets in, so be it.

And just booked VIE-LHR-JFK J to burn the last of my personal miles. That's the last big flight I needed to book for next years Christmas trip.

Have ~70k remaining across 2 accounts so may ticket some MEL-HKG-CAN trips 11 months out and just bring them forward if need be.

Meanwhile I'm desperately trying to decide on a 17.5k QF J so I don't feel ripped off!

does it have to be ticketed prior to EOD 22nd? e.g. i have put one on hold but want to make sure i get it at the pre-deval price.

also 22nd NYC time? or some other time?

Yes it would need to be ticketed no later than the 22nd. I've assumed DFW time but could be wrong there.......

AA have a manual ticketing process so don't count on it being ticketed by the 22nd.

I asked the same question the previous page and was told as long as it's booked/paid for should be no problem.

Well for me I called yesterday to get mine put in the ticketing queue. That could take up to 48 hours, according to the agent. That could well mean ticketing after the changeover. That said, the prices were agreed and I believe notes were made to that effect on my record. So even if the booking is actually ticketed after the prices change, I'll still be alright.

A polite warning to my friends. All travel must be arranged by March 21st!! Please note that all AA redemption tables refer to the new tables applying to all bookings from the 22nd.

World Clock has time in DFW at 0025 DST on 21 March so still 23 and a half hours to get the booking made. Good Luck all.

Just interested where you have come across the requirement for it to be ticketed (as opposed to booked) by the 22nd?

I have just released from a hold 2 F seats on the following flights, hopefully they are of use to someone who can book them before the devaluation:
18SEP QF9 MEL-DXB
19SEP QF1 DXB-LHR

Last night, I only had to wait on hold for 5 mins. Then booked MEL AUH EY J and Zurich to MEL on QR J for my parents. I chose that over cx.

Sorry- I meant "ticketed" to be paid for this end prior to cutover. Whether or not it IS ticketed it up to AA, but at least the intent to action prior to cutover is there. Sorry for confusion, it is only my interpretation.
