By the wording you had to apply to what was showing on the list after you received confirmation i.e. by beginning of June. The only cards still showing at that time were 2 Westpac cards as I recall, which required application by 30 June.

My velocity confirmation of 40k points T&C's only stipulates to activate the offer by 31st May.
And to apply for velocity earning credit card that had annual fee. No end date as @odysseus posts.
I applied early June for Westpac card.
Let's set what happens in time.

I applied and was approved in mid may after registering early May - with Westpac. I received my statement on Friday and it confirmed 75k Velocity points. Today these are now in my Velocity account but I do not have the gold status I selected.

I will update when I have this (and any story around what might have happened and so forth)

I applied and received my virgin money card in march, and have recieved 3x 25000 points to date but signed up for the 40k bonus thinking that I would sign up with Westpac, but ultimately did not…..however, 40k points appeared a couple days ago anyway…woohoo

Thanks Virgin!!
Woohoo, me too 40k extra points. Applied in March, registered for offer in late April.

I have a quick question - I went for the Velocity Flyer with its 4 months of 25k point reward, and selected trial gold as the extra benefit. I've since had business trips and holidays which have got me only 8 points off gold status. I read that they will simply credit 40k points if I'm gold when the trial gold award is triggered (in 2.5 months), is this automatic?

edit: bit arbitrary now, I found this morning I'd been upgraded to Gold on 492 SC - not sure what that's about but free lounge bao buns are in my future so all is good

It seems the bonuses come with (or shortly after) the first dose of 25,000 points -so you are probably on trial gold now and will move to real gold when you get 8 more SCs.

Wouldn’t hurt to give Velocity a call and ask them to credit 40k in points instead of the trial gold, on the basis you have earned gold in its own right. I’d be disappointed if they said no.

I doubt & don't think they should, I mean you make a decision from the offer email.
There was a T&C that you can't change your offer choice after you've made it.

I think the onus should be on the pax, if you know your going to take a few J flights, then every chance you'd earn Gold & should opt for the 40k points or $300 travel bank.

We are living in times when airlines are very generous in handing out plenty to keep flyers on their side so wouldn't surprise me thou.

I get really personally distressed when people manage to wangle things that were not in line with the Ts and Cs because I always try to stick to the Ts and Cs myself. But then I have to catch myself on that it is really not hurting me if/when they do and remember that I probably occasionally also get the rub of the green.

New member here on the forums.

I (stupidly) selected the $300 travel bank option (thinking it could have been used for taxes / international redemptions) instead of the additional 40k points before applying for my card (Amex Velocity).

I've just received (and also as quickly, used) my 120k bonus points from reaching the minimum spend on my Amex Velocity card, however I am still unable to locate where in the VFF portal the $300 travel bank is?

Is anyone able to please advise? Thankyou :)

It'll be in your Virgin Travel Bank account, now if you don't have a Virgin Travel Bank account, you will receive an email with those details.
Alternatively some info here.

username is your velocity number.

But I'd guess you have to call velocity to be sure the $300 has landed in your account.

Thankyou, the only email I've received regarding this is "Thanks for selecting $300 Virgin Australia Travel Bank Credit".

Within the email, the only other information is:

You have selected an exclusive benefit
Hi (name removed),
you have selected $300 Virgin Australia Travel Bank Credit* as your exclusive benefit.

Once you've applied and are approved for a Velocity Points earning credit card with an annual fee, and meet the minimum spend criteria for the individual credit card offer you've applied for, your benefit will be applied.*

Terms and Conditions apply.

I've tried logging into the travel bank website and it wasn't able to recognise my VFF number even when attempting to reset my password.
Is it possible that it may take a few more days for the $300 to be issued? I only got my bonus points a few days ago.

ok yeah definitely seems like Velocity hasn't submitted / followed thru with your $300 yet.
Frustrating I know, but give it a couple days or better yet just get on the phone to them, you may get a few answers then or more frustrated why they don't have answers or know anything, ha!

Velocity 13 18 75.

Thankyou, I'll wait a few more days for an email or similar, and will check the VFF portal in the interim too.

If nothing turns up, then I'll call up.

Still kicking myself that I didn't opt for the extra 40k points, as that would have saved me a few hundred dollars from topping up.

I guess I could still use the $300 for a domestic trip though, so not all is lost I guess.

Hey guys,

Today I just received the first statement for my Velocity flyer credit card and the bonus point is $0.
I called Virgin Money immediately to find out that council fee is classified as government fee and not included in the minimum $1,500 spending, and thus my eligible spending is approx. $1,450, only $50 short.

The staff says he can manually credit the 25K bonus point to my account for this time. But my question is does it affect the velocity exclusive benefit (I chose trial gold), if I was given full bonus point but actually not meeting the spending requirement? What actually triggers the exclusive benefit?

My guessing is that velocity won't have any access to the credit card or banking system so the benefit will be triggered by the bonus point hitting the account. I called velocity and was told the trial gold will only start once 4x bonus point has been received. Does it mean that even if I wasn't automatically upgraded to trial gold, I can still call velocity and told them I've already got 4x 25K bonus points and ask for a manually upgrade?

That sounds like a unique scenario and you will discover how it plays out in due course. FWIW I think you have been extremely fortunate to get the 25,000 points. It is reasonably well known and clearly advertised that payments to government do not count towards eligible spend.
