Advance Seat Selection on Virgin - now available!!

Success for advanced seat selection for me SYD-ADL return about 8 and 10 days out. Got both 3A/3B seats.

If I flew QF instead I would have consistently got 29A/B even with OLCI.

On my SYD-MEL-SYD flight a week ago. When I went into advance seat selection after booking confirmed by TA, I was already allocated 3A. Brilliant!

I can't select a seat for next week, I get the following error message

virgin seat.png

and then the seat maps shows up like this;

anybody any idea? Have a premium seat booked

Of seven sectors I've booked since seat selection became available, I've had the same problem with three of them. On the first occasion I rang the contact centre and they manually allocated me a seat but for my upcoming flights I just haven't bothered.

Still not working for PE. Good grief Virgin. (again) I reported this to them over 3 weeks ago. Ring the service centre and they will allocate the seats you want.

ah not just me, haven't flown DJ in a while. Which seat should I go for?

I think most of the aircraft now have the new J cabin as the seat map indicates. Really just depends if you generally prefer the bulkhead or row 2.

If it is one with the real business class seats then I am going for row 1, just saw a picture of the legroom in a different thread and was impressed.

I've got 6 flights currently booked, and have this error for 3 of them as well.

One was OOL-SYD but I changed the flight to an hour later and I can now select seats on the new flight. The original flight was a non-refit, but the new one is refitted/BSI.

The other two are SYD-MEL at peak times, so I wonder if that has something to do with it?

It appears there is only an issue with premium / Business class flights. I have done half a dozen or so flights the past week, all saver, or flexi, and have a couple of premium flights coming up. The only ones that have had an issue, are the premium economy ones.
There are only 8 seats in the cabin, and of the last 10 flights I have done, I have seen a max of 5 pax in there, with the cabin empty most of the time, I think we will be right for seats

Who cares, as long as you get a seat. Its a seat guys, you will get one. Some people need to get over themselves, seriously.

No, most regular flyer have preferred seats. Everyone's different.

There's the basic aisle preferred by most extremely frequent flyers.

Then there's the first row of economy behind PE/Business with the extra leg room - also great to snaffle an aisle if one available and that's your thing.

Others travelling in PE prefer bulkheads if they can the row 1 D/F seats, but not A/C. If in Business then it may not matter.

Are you 6'6" tall Jack? Do you have back or knee problems? Do you have to minimise your time waiting for others to deboard so that you can get to an important meeting quicker?

Everyone has different reasons for wanting a particular seat, and when a system doesn't work as it should, there is nothing wrong with people making a comment about that.

If you don't care where you sit, then great, you can have a row 28 middle seat, surrounded by screaming children and drunk bogans, where the plane bounces around even more in turbulence and you can get off last. But don't have a go at other people who don't want to sit there.

You guys love to pounce. Also i have to ask are any of you married? As for the seats i mean business class, not economy, there is 8 seats, you will get one, you can request it at the airport, or try again, no need to have a hissie fit. As for the drunk people at the back, if they were, wouldnt they be denied boarding? Screaming kids are on every flight, we did it when we were younger, and if you have kids yourself, you will be used to it (if you have kids oneday) *cough*. Also i dont care if i would sit in "24E", i can meet new people, no wonder you guys are a bad image from the standard traveller, you think your better then everyone else when your not.

All of this has to be a gee-up. Who's going to bite?

Edit: No, maybe it's not a gee-up, from the profile.

Actually, I don't 'like' to pounce. Your post indicated a lack of awareness of reality with an over-the-top aspersion to those who may have preferences. I felt I needed to correct this.

Yes, I am married ... that reminds me, my wife is a fearful flyer - if she does not get an aisle seat in economy - she WILL NOT FLY; so seat selection with confidence is imperative.

I'm afraid it is quite important to most FF's. On Monday I clocked up 400 hours in the air for the year. Comfort, as I'm sure you can imagine is quite important to me, so getting my preferred seat is essential. :)
