This benefit is nice to see if any of the operating aircraft are BSI/retrofitted aircraft if you are booked on a flexi fare (or just book late) and have flexible departure times.

Pity none of my upcoming flights or any similar timed flights are showing as BSI. Probably because they are mainly on transcontinental now. ADL needs more loving imo!
All of the re-configured planes will be doing Coast to Coast due to only a few of them.

I dunno about that. My SYD-BNE sector on sunday is showing business config.

There is 10 or 12 now, and not everyone wants to go to PER, so it's likely that they will do other legs.

This is offered to our Velocity Platinum, Gold and Silver members, as well as those who have booked Business class and Premium Economy seats, or a Flexi fare ticket.

Does this mean a Silver or Gold member select a forward seat over a Platinum if they get in first? Or is it a case of immediate forward (rows 3-5 for example) will be locked off for Platinums?

I hope as a platinum member I don't get relegated back because my flights are booked only a few days out as opposed to someone else booking 2 weeks prior. I am not trying to be a Platinum snob but I would be quite annoyed if I was not on an aisle / forward and saw that lower ranks were ahead of me. It would really bring into question the value of Platinum.

Just selected 3C for my MEL-SYD leg on Saturday and the same 3C option for the return leg on Monday morning. Gold member, but only a saver fare.

My seat for SYD BNE nest week is 4C next best aisle is 7 and above.
Not really much choice for a Platinum Card holder

I did however get 3C for BNE MEL & MEL SYD. As the Meat says, "two out of three ain't bad"

Sometimes when there is a very light load, the first 7 rows are blocked off until it's close to check-in closing. I would ask at the Lounge. I flew from MEL-ADL a month ago and this happened and I assumed it was because an AFL team had a mortgage on the first 7 rows, but the Lounge Angel said it was a light load and they don't want everyone selecting the front becuase they have to balance it out. Got it change atthe Loung desk to 3C.

Well report back from my first experiment ... it didn't work.

Went online yesterday and selected 3C for tonight's flight. Just got to the lounge and discovered i was in 3F. Lounge angel moved me back to 3C no problem but it appears to either be a bit glitchy or i did something wrong in the process.

Hmmm. I can't guarantee i didn't do something dumb in the process but pretty sure i completed it ok.

777 - I don't think it was anything you did wrong! I had a similar experience yesterday. My Better(?) Half and I were in PE, on separate bookings. Had 2 D and F requested (my personal favourites) and when I checked in (inc 71kgs of baggage - I love PE!) did not notice that I had been allocated 1F. When my husband checked in later he was still in 2D.

Was quickly resolved by the Lounge Angels, but I do hope check in staff are not going to override the seating choices we make online, without asking first.

They are - or someone is. I had selected 2D for this afternoon but went in an hour ago and it was back to 1D. It's either BSI/refitted so I'm a little annoyed as I was supposed to be checking out row 2 to provide feedback here on the space!

Just arrived at Premium check in in Sydney - omg there is a queue - ugh! That never happens here - 3 pax in front of me!

I was just chatting to somebody about the SYD Lounge/Premium entry. I couldn't believe how crowded it is this afternoon!

Well that is just proving that its working! Also here the good news? Premium entry at SYD will be open on weekends now :-). Any photos of the new interior you could get us?

Premium Lounge Entry Angel moved me back to 2D. Flight is chockers!

Below is the obligatory legroom shot from 2D (note I am 6'2" so it actually is a decent amount of room despite how the photo may look - definitely more than QF on a B738).

No BSI photos sorry Jack - it's a refitted aircraft not a BSI!

Melbourne yesterday morning from 6.15 to 7.45 was packed. I actually am interested to see how this pans out. It reminds me of the really old days of Virgin when the Lounge was downstairs. Often it was hard to find seats! There is no room for expansion in the Melbourne Lounge, it will be interesting to see how it copes over the coming months!

My last 4 PE flights have also been very full, only 1 free seat on each of them!

One thing the new seats need is a coat hook considering there is not enough storage up front to hang jackets.

I was in the Mel lounge from 6:15-6:45 yesterday morning!

This is why we need the AFF check in app!

Good knee room mate! Do I see a Bose QC15 case?

Wait what? It was my understanding that part of the new galley has a space dedicated to store jackets for the J Class pax. Was this not happening?

Flew last night Sydney to Perth on a new BSI in Business and the Jackets are hung on Coathangers behind row 2 on the rail attached to the false bulk head.
