Advice on champagne

The Dom Perignon at $179 less 10.25% is about $160 which compares well with the US price of $149 plus tax.
I am not sure that it is four times as good as Moët and $160 could be a bit of a wallet buster.
Champagne is very personal and the occasional glass or two is always good for your birthday tipple.

I would be extremely wary of the 'vintage may vary' note - you could end up paying far more for something worth far less. Vintages are about the year. A 2000, 2002 and 2003 are not equal (and priced accordingly...

Following my purchase I received a starthere offer for 10% so I think I had better do a repeat deal where the Moët and Veuve prices continue to fall.

I joined starthere yesterday. Already notched up a credit and three bottles of Moët.

I think I just joined the wrong Starthere..... I am now in distress

Cup week fast approaching which traditionally means best time to buy / best deals on Champers - so keep your peepers open people.

Dan's currently have Moet listed at $43.75 for 6 or more - but Liquorland in Bay St Brighton (Vic) advertising it at $40 bott - great price match opportunity if you wanna hit Dan's or buy straight from LL.

I supply for my client, but none of them know the difference, so the Epiqure Chandon NV for $18.99 a bottle will do them, case of Taittinger NV from Kemenys at a tad under $587.88 will be for my own enjoyment ;)

I'm sorry, but I only drink champagne courtesy of airlines. As a regular of EK, I can say that I prefer Moet to Veuve, but I get bombarded with a plethora of other brands while flying in various airlines premium class.

You know, I was a bit surprised that champagne wasn't any cheaper in Paris. At least not Veuve, Mumm etc. I think with DMs, it's hard to get a better price...

I had it a few weeks ago for the first time and thoroughly enjoyed it. I think I'm going to need to acquire some, as champagne is almost mandatory in the warmer months!

As for "sparkling", I'm quit fond of some of the Australian Chandon vintages. For a few $ more than NV there's a noticeable difference. It's what I buy if I'm also buying for others (ie: entertaining) where I buy by the case :)

Oh Yes for living in the Yarra Valley where one can find Chandon as a house champagne in a few of our restaurants and wineries

Champers is decently priced in the UK. Presume the competition and cheap shipping from France makes it so.

UK and US pricing on champagne can be really good.
Usually in Australia I have to resort to starthere and then port my way into DanMurphys to then pay with Woolies 5% off gift cards. Then I use the free delivery.
In London I have bought champagne as low as 10 quid on special so our Australian prices are high.
Enjoy the champagne Mal!

Indeed. Even at pub prices I can often buy say moet or veuve for cheaper than Oz. Such a bizarre concept!

I only tend to drink champagne when travelling though. The last champers I had when not travelling was celebrating my new role.

had a ruinart blanc de blanc in the USA earlier this month. At a restaurant... Usd$75... Can't even find it here at a bottle o for <$90...

I'm sure that was selected for the rhyming value above anything else. I'm not suggest it is right, but 'Veuve' is fairly widely accepted as the abbreviation in Australia.

I saw some Ruinart somewhere the other day quite reasonably priced... Maybe Kemenys?
