Advice on champagne

Hoofed it over to Dans in Swanston from Southbank and that wasn't the 0.4 kms listed from the flat.
Bought a Verve for our cleaning service for New Year's Eve as a thank you for doing a great job seeing they are having a night on the town. It's almost party time with another year racing by.
I think the website realized I needed the walk.

Verdict in - indeed it's a bit light for my taste - Cruiserette very impressed with it - suggested I head out tonight to Dans to secure a doz - seems we differ slightly on that concept - of course as with ALL wines personal taste is personal taste - thanks again Keith for making the effort in posting.

Happy Cruiserette, happy Cruiser? ;)

Ok the verdict in the Shrek household

Nice bead
Apple aroma and initial taste. I want to say sweet but that's not quite true as the finish is bone dry with very little aftertaste. No yeasty/bready notes as far as I can tell but a very clean, simple drop. Easy to drink as an aperitif. I think it would probably be overwhelmed by strong canapés. I can see the comparison with Perrier-Jouët and I believe it's a favourable one.
Well worth $29 and then some as it's considerably better than many of the Aussie bubbles at this price point.
Definitely a far more refined drop than the similarly priced Pol Gessner also from DM's.
Thankyou so much for posting about this from your travels Keith009 as I'm a bit of a pseudo wine snob who wouldn't normally look beyond the big houses.
Glad I purchased a case, it's good to take a risk every now and then :)

Glad you enjoyed! You'll find that 90% of champagne producers are small family producers that no one's ever heard of and as a champagne aficionado it's always so much fun checking out something new and different. :)

Now I'd better go stock up a bit more before you all wipe DM's out of their remaining stock! But hopefully Febs' guy got his wires crossed.

My local Dans has 5 cases (6 bottle cases), and about a dozen on the shelf... Picked up a sample last night - yet to taste it myself.

Might have a taste tonight and if I like it will head back to stock up.

There was none in Southern River store, But I went few km to another store and they had like 10 cases left.

Will try it on Friday night and if it's great I'll buy a case. :) I have very high expectations!

Hope so. He checked around Sydney stores and couldn't see any in the system (I said NSW earlier - maybe Sydney was more accurate). Has anyone found a DMs in Sydney with it in-stock?

Cheers,
- Febs.

Was driving past DM at Epping (Vic) for work - and can confirm they have 2 bottles left.. they did have more :D

Now how to get them back to Sydney.....

How are folks double dipping wish cards / start here?

I've done starthere, but how do you get a further discount on the wish card to begin with? And do you then use the wish card to pay on the DM's website (thought this could only be done in the store)?

You can purchase WISH cards at a 5% discount to face value through numerous channels. The common ones are auto clubs, unions and the entertainment book. Some of these take AmEx, some just take Visa/MC.

And yes - you can pay with WISH cards on the DM website.

Using Click and Collect you pay no postage...

Joining the Louis Auger experimental bandwagon... popped into Woolworths, got a WISH gift card, stopped next door at Dan's. Chilling in the fridge now. Plenty at Wolli Creek.
