Advice on champagne

Here is another deal that might interest - this dressed up Moet is a great gift for anyone - I usually buy a doz each year and just store them - then when you get that invite to bday celeb / milestone dinner or whatever - no need go shopping for a gift - just lift a bottle and twirl some cello paper around it and voila. With Wish Card / Start Here combo again about $42ea

The following thirst quenchers have made it into the 009 cellars for the silly season:
Champagne Duperrey, Billecart Salmon, Duval Leroy, Mumm - NVs for casual drinking & guests

Billecart Salmon rose / Cuvée Louise Pommery 99 (only EUR90 in Reims!) / Lermandier-Bernier Longtitude (clearance stock at DMs for $55 a bottle x 6!) - for those beautiful sunny afternoons outdoors

Dom Perignon 2004 / Taittinger CDC 04 / Cuvée Sienna by Bertrand-Devary (so glad we brought some of the Sienna back from Champillon, EUR22 as opposed to $92 here) - when feeling like a treat and keeping the in-laws happy.

Lenoble Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs Millesime 2006 Chouilly / Ayala zero dosage NV / Charles Heidsieck BDM 95 - guarding zealously for ourselves

Great mix of flavours at varied price points but aim is on extracting maximum taste without blowing the budget.

Highly recommend the humble Duperrey for easy everyday drinking if you can look past the fact that it's really a private label made exclusively for DMs but by a really good Maison (GH Martel) and you really can't get Premier Cru juice anywhere else for $36 a bottle!

Should hopefully see us through summer. Just.

I'd like to know if the 1999 Lanson Gold Label Brut Vintage Reims is a better drop than the Lanson Gold Label Brut 2002 Vintage Reims?
These were/are on Virgin International Business class.
I'm sure the 1999 tasted better than the 2002.
When I look them up to buy the 1999 is $86 compared to $54 a bottle.
Is this budget champers and would Verve be classed as better or the same?

Edit: Struth I picked the 2 point difference in favour of the 1999......Lanson Gold Label Vintage Brut | Dan Murphy's | Buy Wine, Champagne, Beer & Spirits Online

Champagne Louis Auger (NV) now available at DM's at $27 a bottle x6 (or $29 per individual bottle). This is seriously good stuff despite the decidedly plonk-like pricing - though one could argue this is how most NV champagnes should be priced as it's almost the same price in Epernay. Get in now before it becomes another household name in Australia with pricing increases to match! Predominantly chardonnay driven so will suit those who like their champagne delightfully light and floral.

Will have to drink up to clear some space in the cellar....

Keith google doesn't throw up much info on this label at all - you have obviously had it before?

I did buy a bott today and will sample it tomorrow night.

Was one of the places we went to when we visited Epernay a month ago. If you like Perrier Jouet you and your credit card will love this drop! The AU price is very close to Epernay pricing. I tried to deliver a case home but they didn't know how to organize it and the local post office wanted to charge EUR200! Fairly small operation. Word reaches me that DM's may not be stocking them anymore other than the initial batch so stock up if you love it as much as I do.

Not in the first Adl DMs I checked. Will have to check their other Adl shops. Which DM did you find it at? I could get mum to pick some up in Brissy. PM me if needed.

I tried my local DMs today (NSW). They said no stock left in NSW and they don't plan to bring more in. :(

So I'm not the only one who couldn't find it... Shame would have been nice to try.

DM's in Westfield Chermside. We bought a half case. It also wasn't displayed at all, the shop assistant had to retrieve it from their storage room. We'd only stumbled upon it at their tasting, so you may need to proactively ask for it. In light of the fact that they may not be selling this anymore I may have to go stock up.... Hopefully a sudden surge of demand from AFFers may prompt them to re-consider. :)

That's the one I bought yesterday and will be sampling tonight.

Hurry up with the report, although I trust Keith's judgement :p

I will check out my local Dans after work today :)

It isn't available online, so no StartHere double-dip.
