Advice on champagne

If Qwibble do Qwibble about the rebate we would be about 18 bottles short if we were buying 2 buck chuck in America. It is awful to miss a forty dollar note when you can see what you miss out on.
My Qwibble money is about 45 days away or of course it could be never.
Just in case I used starthere last night.

I'll get it out of them, somehow, or we can all drivel about Qwibble.

Dans, discounted wish card & start here combo has the 6 bottle buy of Taittinger at $43.87 each at the moment which I think is a sensational deal....

It certainly is a great price. From memory this morning in Aix-en-Provence it was 39 Euro

I've just returned from a day over at Reims & Épernay... I managed a tour at Taittinger before leaving, and finally understand what you folks are all on about with the Comtes De Champagne! The Prelude Grands Crus was the other favourite for SWMBO and I. Brought a few back to Paris as well :)

Cheers.

Was it raining? Apparently it rains most days. Which I thought unusual given that it doesn't rain all that much in the Barossa Valley but it still produces nice sparkling wines. Maybe it's about the limestone and drainage.

I am so envious df - am planning a few days in Reims / Epernay June 2015 so will be back in this thread looking for info early in 2015.

Reims is very French. (doh, its actually Epernay!) ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1401020028.658916.jpg

The streets are immaculate.

Make sure to visit Hautvillers, just outside and above Epernay, so a nice view. It's where Dom Perignon's abbey is. Try some of the small producers' offerings (eg. Gobillard - just across the street from the abbey). Quality is good and the prices are very reasonable compared to the major producers.

I also think that Epernay is a nicer place to stay than Reims. It has less of a big city feel.

Oops. I just realised - the street promenade was Epernay!

Yep definitely Epernay, and agreed that it is much nicer than Reims (and for those who haven't been inducted, it's pronounced rance - rhymes with valance).

I was going to say dance but some of us use the English pronunciation ;)

Some good houses in Reims also, so worth a look around, but wouldn't try to do both in a day trip ex-Paris.

Dom 2004 is at DMs for $179.. was thinking of joining SH (it has slipped my mind for some time now).. this might be a good time to sign up!
