Advice on champagne

One of the gifts I received from my hubby this year was a bottle of the Billecart Elisabeth Salmon. Happy camper here! (and we've been working our way though the Taittinger World cup bottles steadily in the last week's festivities, to add to the fun)

I hope everyone has a lovely bubbly Christmas!

Pleased to report that the FIFA Taittinger was awesome :)
We started off breakfast this morning with Blinis and smoked salmon accompanied by Billecart-Salmon before moving on to the World Cup Taittinger. Very nice indeed. The only problem being that we should stop drinking. Instead of that I've decided to make some wicked Mimosas
Now have to crack open another case for New Year ;)

By the bye, is anyone here a member of The Champagne Dame's La Bonne Vie club? I signed up a month ago (and my card was charged) and haven't received anything yet, so I'm wondering whether anything has gone wrong. :\

Tried this and it's lovely. NOT champagne. But it is French and all but for geography would be champagne. $25.00 per bottle. It's very affordable. ImageUploadedByAustFreqFly1419809003.212986.jpg

No cant help with that one - I did however exchange numerous emails with TCD re the MEL Champers night - but cost was going to be a killer so proceeded no further.

I've been to one of her "masterclasses", so thought I'd join up, but given the holidays, I'm having trouble getting in contact with them. My birthday tasting do with the girls is this weekend, so I'd like to have the flutes I was supposed to get with joining. Ah well, we'll see what happens :)

I am one of a growing group of people who feel Halliday has become too generous in his old age, but I still read his reviews.

Agree about James Halliday.
Can't fully trust someone who gives 5 stars to rubbish wineries like Sirromet.

Well I don't disregard his reviews but I do subtract 3-4 points and certainly wouldn't pay for them. Why would you when everyone quotes them anyway, given he overhyped everything!

Happy new year! Thanks everyone for your support and kindness to this newbie.. Has been great fun (and a big procrastination :p)
Looking forward to the new year :)
Cheers..!

Happy New Year - thanks again to BlackCat20 - Two of the World Cup soccer Taittinger have been put to bed in our house tonight - very nice.

2014 was an arduous campaign - best advice I can give anybody re Champagne is not be too narrow in your tasting endeavours:
