Advice on champagne

Anyone know much about Champagne Paul Louis Martin Grand Cru Vintage 2007 (claimed 98 pts). DMs are bundling 3 of them with 3 Billiecart Brut NV for $340 as a delivery deal.

No - but the commercial aspects of that 'deal' would set my alarm bells ringing. That said, do a bit of Googling.

Dans have Taittinger for $49 ($47.50 in any six). Not quite the secret deal but not bad.

Remember I gave one of the secret deals to my niece for Christmas. (Probably not :p but I did). Anyway she saved it up for a very special day - last week she found out she's been granted her PhD. Taittinger duly consumed.

Awesome achievement and well deserving of a bottle of champers. Pass on my congrats :D

I'm hosting a Champagne blind tasting party in a couple of weeks time and I'm planning to be cheeky by sneaking in a blanc de blanc from oz or nz. What do you guys think?

Wish you good luck on your party (assume my invite is in the mail lol).. I'm not sweet enough in real life so I'm not a massive fan of the chardy only bubbles :)

Yes, but why ruin a perfectly good Champagne tasting with a domestic (or neighbourhood) bubbly? :)

I don't know, just a random thought I suppose? Who knows someone may enjoy it more leaving the rest of the champagnes for those with more discerning palates lol.

Put up a vintage Chandon. That'll separate those with more attuned palates to those without. It's actually not bad.

Oh - just do it and wait for the fun!

My only condition would be that it be something regarded as decent - eg. an Arras or some such. Something like Pelorus would only just make the grade for inclusion, if you are looking for my opinion of a cutoff point.

Haha perhaps. Or perhaps I'm just saving for the kitchen and bathroom renovation after recently buying an inner Sydney terrace home and trying to keep the other half happy... ;)

I seem to recall there were no excuses tolerated in the past... I like to think you are mellowing lol
(said while sucking back on the last of the Taittenger :p)

I wouldn't buy it, but if it was a gift it was better than throwing away or re-gifting. Haha perhaps I am mellowing, but the point is it won't be me drinking it! ;)
