Advice on champagne

Possibly conditions in transit to Australia. Perhaps one lot went via a third country and sat on the docks for a week or something.

You could say that about the normal label too, or any wine for that matter. A promotional label doesnt mean they treated it any less well (except for the courier that delivered the damaged box yesterday).

I really fail to see how a label changes the taste of the contents. Would be interesting to see the result of a blind tasting...
Yes but its not unknown for different bottling's of wine to have variations, in fact at the extreme I've had people express disbelief they are actually the same wine (could be different barrel/tank at the least).

May be some subtle diffs - who knows - tastes mighty delicious though at that price - IMHO no diff at all between Taitts std label and Taitts FIFO label - and we did try both in succession on NYE.

I meant the promo bottles might have taken a different route to Australia. Possibly explanation for perceived difference. That's all.

Sounds like my experience with Billiecart Salmon. I've only tried one bottle that has not left me unimpressed.

A number of years ago I was on a tour and at the start we all got given a mini bottle of Champagne (pretty sure it wasn't Sparking). About 1 or 2 glasses worth, & properly corked and caged.

Does anyone know if anything similar is available today?

Moet is pretty easily available in 200ml and 375ml piccolos (with a proper cork etc) and there are a few others available here and there. The Lanson Black 200ml piccolo isn't a proper cork, so don't get that if you're after cork. Half bottles has a good selection of various types: Champagne Half Bottles

OK, so there are dozens of 'em. Thanks all - they don't let me out much.

I recall the bottle we were given was squat and bulbous, but those 200ml jobs will certainly do the job.

I'm always on the lookout for varieties of 200ml and 375ml bubbles, since my hubby doesn't like champers and I don't like to drink a whole 750ml to myself if we don't have other visitors! Winestar also have a few.
