This may be heresy for the many peeps on this site who are Hilton/Hyatt fans.

Certainly nothing wrong with the CBD, but for any who would prefer to stay overlooking the Indian Ocean towards Rottnest and yet still be nicely in the Perth CBD/Western Suburbs/Fremantle orbit, you may care to scope these hotels:

Ocean Beach Hotel –

The Cottesloe Beach Hotel

They are about 300m apart and literally over the road from Cottesloe or North Cott beach.

About the only disadvantage that I can see is that it is a little bit of a walk to the Per-Freo train line (about 1km).

For those wanting to scope the Freo scene in more detail, the Esplanade might be worth looking at:

I'm a maybe. I have a fare booked to Oz that fits in with this. Let's see if I can align the moon and the stars in the sky.

I'd love to come along, it may be around same time as an upcoming reunion but a definite maybe for sure.

As disclosed to others last night, I will not be able to attend. The weeks before (1st week in November) I will be in the UK and with that, the timing does not wok for me.

I believe I could be platinum for this event, over Friday AM leave Sunday at 4:25pm; both flights on Qantas.

I have a few friends to catch up with while I am here/there, here because I am Perth now; there because I am flying from Brisbane.

double like

I've booked my flight to PER, QF651 in J (U) of course. Also booked accommodation at the Perth Ambassador Hotel as it was a good deal. Already have flight home.

Have to try to remember to stay in town for that weekend so I guess put me down as Platinum...

For things like the Rottnest Ferry ride i MIGHT be able to get some slightly discounted tickets through work if i have firm commitments...

Not that PER is the most exciting airport in the world but wonder if either of the two airlines or anyone would want to put anything on?

Down South for a couple of days should be nice for any of the people that want to stay a few days after or before...

IIRC you can book discounted tickets via RAC and such also. Trying to rack my brains as to how Mrs Flashback and I did it last trip, I remember there was some promo. Day trips tend to get discounted pricing anyway. We paid $165 for the 2 of us including bike hire and a snorkel set.
