If you are still looking for a venue just out of GC, I can personally recommend the Polish Palace. Spectacular view and setting among nature on the top of Mt Tamborine with some truly wonderful food. Lots of open space outside which would easily accommodate a large party as well. Nice lodging there too for those so inclined.

I am interested in this event but the MotoGP conflicts at this stage :-|

I can probably bring along a TV for MotoGP viewing on the GC! However I'm still in negotiations to sell the TV rights to broadcast the AFF Do, though you may get lucky ;)

Add me in Sam... I'm Platinum...:D

As you also did, missed the event last weekend.. Shall make up for it this time around

Not sure what colour I am yet.

I am in Brisbane that weekend but I have recently found out that the work Christmas function is on 27 October. Haven't been to one in 3 years as the past few have been on the Sunshine Coast.

I shall decide which events to attend, if any, once the program has been published....

Looking forward to some more details.

Hard to gauge sincerity online, but for those not in the know, regular rates are $74 for members, $89 for hotel guests and $135 for non-members, so it's a substantial saving.

Golf club hire is also available for anyone interested but not interested enough to bring their own clubs :)

Sounds good but how to get to Royal Pines early Sunday morning after drinking Saturday night and no transport?

Trains run fairly early now and I could do a station pickup/you could drink and stay on the GC. Might be able to open some spare beds for people not wanting to book hotels. :)

As I posted earlier it is the company's Christmas party on the Saturday night. I forget where it is but usually some posh location. May only be worth going for a couple of hours for dinner and limit the drinking.

Early morning start for golf is good but limits the options of getting down there. Train is one option. Snagging a lift from a local is another option. Hire car is almost out of the question unless I get one for 2 days.

Not sure if this helps.....or even if it's pertinent, but company Christmas parties are endured, not enjoyed by me. If I can conjure up an excuse to get out of them, I do and if I must attend, I don't drink. I've seen too many people let their hair down at the "Christmas party" only to find no job in the new year because management didn't appreciate their dutch-courage fueled candor.

My thought is that the option you canvassed in the quote above has merit!

Which calendar does your company follow John? I understand having them a bit early to avoid the rush and possible high venue prices, but October?? :o

I don't know but it could be the Mayan calendar and something about December! ;)

Seriously, in 2008 the Christmas party was in December. Then the year after someone decided to incorporate the Christmas party with some awards presentation in September 2009 and then kept it around the same time but moved to Sunshine Coast in 2010 and 2011. Back to Brisbane this year and as i am still around it may be worth going. Must remember to check the location when I get to the office tomorrow.

And it is highly unlikely of me getting so drunk that I will be bonding with work colleagues at the Christmas party.

I shall play golf, although I warn attendees that my golf is probably worse than it was 2 years ago at AFF 4, so there will be lots of zig-zagging.

Now, is ozbeachbabe watching this thread? It would be good to have ozbeachhunk come along to defend his golf challenge title from AFF 4.
