Stayed there once, pray it isn't garbage night for the building across the road, the pub next door is OK though.

I've never heard of that one to be honest, it's in a bit of a dead end of town, though a short walk to the restaurants of gouger st. and the central markets.

Given I'll be spending little time in the room, as per MEL AFF Meet #1, it suits me fine

As I said, looking at prices the Go! fares are looking likely - and for a weekend I can probably skip the need for checked luggage...If QF does match, they are still usually around $80-$90 for MEL-ADL)
'Tis $79 MEL-ADL:
Sale on Now
Seats are on sale until midnight Tuesday 9 September 2008 (AEST) unless sold out before.

These one way specials are valid for travel from Wednesday 15 October to Tuesday 16 December 2008, and from Tuesday 13 January to Tuesday 7 April 2009.

Hurry, seats are limited.
With a $6.60 CC booking fee it's $164.60

DJ's is $122 (with cc booking fees).

So, what does the additional $45 get one?
 • 1 piece of checked luggage each way up to 32Kg (against 20Kg e/w with $16 payment)
 • Snack/Meal
 • Complimentary Alcoholic drinks after 4pm Weekdays
 • 2222 QFF points (20 SC's pro-rated) against ~500 velocity

If one is a QP member or SG and wish to employ a lounge pre-flight; Qantas work out $15 less expensive for the R/T.

And... JQ is now in on the party.

Farewell Winter Sale!

These sale fares are JetSaver Light^ fares for when you travel with carry on baggage only. However, you can choose a JetSaver fare for only $10 more and you'll get 20kg checked baggage allowance.

Travel periods vary depending on destination. The travel periods for the sale fares listed above are 15 October - 10 December 2008 and 13 January - 28 March 2009, except Melbourne to Gold Coast where the only travel period is 13 January - 28 March 2009.

Sale fares are not available on all flights or days, and there is limited availability on some sale fares during peak periods and long weekends*.

This sale is on now until midnight (23:59 AEST) 9 September 2008, unless sold out prior. Sale may be extended.

I think you'll find JQ only fly to Adelaide from AVV not MEL.

I might be able to attend this - too far out for me to know my exact movements but could organise some client meetings in ADL on either side of the weekend.

I'll keep you posted Flashware. Plus thanks for organising it, I know how organising FF functions can be time consuming...

Given my flight out is 30 minutes after you, I guess we'll have to endear a scotch or 2 in the QP

Well, with my latest SC run booked I was going to be SG by AFF Gather #2, so I thought, "Well, why not book on DJ instead and start getting some runs on the Velocity board? After all, the 8th Birthday sale @ $98 BNE/ADL each way...."

Once again, I'm proven very wrong. The only $98 fares - both going to and back from ADL - are in the stark dead of the morning (except for the flight to ADL, where there is one in the afternoon - not preferable - I don't want to take leave from work!). The remaining Blue Saver fares are more expensive than QF's sale at the moment.

The following quote comes to mind:
Ooooh...I renew my objection to this pointless endeavour! Informally now and through affidavit later.
For sick puppies, you can theoretically fly:
BNE-SYD-CBR-SYD-ADL. ADL-SYD-CBR-SYD-BNE for ~$6.61/SC. Booking engine can't seem to handle the last segment. Wonder why! Surely they can handle 8 flights in one booking :)

A shorter version BNE-SYD-CBR-SYD-ADL. ADL-MEL-BNE is also available at a reasonable price. Still hunting around for anything better.

I'm not 100% sure I'll be attending this event though.

You'll spend all weekend getting there though

You'll spend all weekend getting there though

The Long one is achievable (~7am-4pm QLD/ADL times getting there, and ~10am-7pm (SA/QLD times) getting home ).

The fun of traveling isn't always arriving at the destination :)

That is very creative but not cheap at ~$560 and it would be ~9 hours travel each way.
