It seems that Air "goes to the TOP 1%" of QFF members.

I have averaged 2800 SC's pa for the last 4 years but have never received it. More than 50% of my SC's do come from travel on airlines other than Qantas.

ergo, to "Qualify" for Air, you've got to earn a lot of SC's for travel on Qantas itself ...

It's a mixture of mostly BA and QF, purely a guess but probably about 70% business class, 15% premium economy, 15% economy.

I've only got 400 this year and my 1060 SC circle pacific was booked after i got the mag

Got my first copy this week - gosh it stinks (the smell), content is ok.

HAd been comped plat last year but done a lot of domestic flying this year and made PG.

Got it on Tuesday, read it last night. Thought the public speaking article was quite good. I've got the last 3 now; nothing before. Only started getting it after 2 separate J flights.

While it's nice in theory to work this way, it's very hit and miss as to who actually does get it and no one has been able to work it out!

I think what Flashware is suggesting is that there is no location/URL - the mag is printed on hardcopy only, and there is nowhere online to link to a copy of it.

Got my first copy today. Hmm just finished my QFF anniversary year with 2450 SCs. Mrs KitKat with 1900 SCs did not get one, so maybe PG is the cut-off or absolutely random? for this

yep, I got edition 7 yesterday as well - thats 1-7, untouched in pristine condition - I am hoping by 2025 I can sell them on Hyper-Bay (the new improved E-Bay) for a quadillion Zimbabwe dollars...

I made WP last September, after being SG the year before and received AIR in December 2009 and yesterday.

I was surprised to read the theory that getting AIR makes me my one of QF's top 5% of customers. Most of my flying is domestic, and in Y - I fly J on the longer flights but always through points upgrades - with 3 or 4 OS trips booked in Y+ and upgraded wherever possible. On the other hand it is nearly all QF and not partners, other than domestic flights with AA or BA in the US / UK. I run a SME with a 500k travel budget, and so if QF mined the data I guess they might notice that in that sense I spend a lot of $$$ with them - is that possible?

Maybe its the wrong thread, but is it really being suggested that getting AIR is an indicator of a status level higher than WP? And does that translate into higher chance of points upgrade, greater possibility of being "comped" for status (whixh i think I'll need this year) and other QF mysteries?

It could be, but unless you or anyone else can infiltrate QF’s backend systems and see if there’s any difference between your account and a lowly first-time-barely-WP, we’ll probably never know

I am WP and have had PG once and I have gotten 5 (may be only 4) Air Mags.

Flicked through the 2nd one (did not get first edition) and the rest have made their way to the recycling bin unopened.

I feel it is all about advertising and QF make them "exclusive" to get the top end marketing dollars.
