VH-EBB has been in Brisbane Maintenance for over 6 weeks. Previous conversions from Jetstar (EBQ and EBS for example) were only in Brisbane for a month or so. Any chance it's actually getting an early refit?

Edit: Looks like it took a BNE-BNE test flight today as QF6100

Hard to say, I think. EBQ/R/S already had the dom J config built-in when it was at Jetstar which would makes things quite a bit quicker?

It may be written in this thread somewhere but what are QF doing about the lightweight floors in EBA to EBD? This was a problem when they were looking to install the Skybed in these aircraft.

I believe that story was scotched some time ago.

Fallacy and besides they are not putting Skybeds into the A330's. Clearly it is a different product.

I am sure it would have been mentioned by those members who took a walk inside:

Looking at one of the pictures of the cabin without the seat covers, the seats in economy look like they have the plastic black seat backs like on the new Weber seats on the current domestic A332s. I wonder if they have decided to replace the seats in economy with this refit. I was under the impression this was just meant to be a soft refurbishment before the full one at the end of this year.

According to the press release the A330-300's will have economy seats replaced, -200's refurbished. As for the a/c in the picture without seat covers, the text says it is being converted from Jetstar to Qantas.

The 330 being converted is one of the older JQ 330's in the fleet (EBB from memory). I think what was being referenced in the questions is are the seats different (forget the IFE) in those birds compared to the likes of EBO etc, or are they the same? If they are different, then the seat looks very similar to what the current product is.

I for one think it is stupid if they intend on using the iPads on these 332's yet refurb the 333's etc. Why not aim for the product consistency between the 330 fleet, something which has never been a strong point previously.

Oh and did I mention that I despise EBJ...

I can confirm (I have the photos on my phone) the plane we saw in the maintenance hanger back in June was EBR, in QF livery. It had only been in for a week, so unsure whether they were completely taking out the seats or just refitting existing. Both J and Y seats were stripped back to shells. If anyone wants a specific photo I took a bunch, I'll see what I have.

There was also a JQ plane just outside doing engine testing - could that be EBB?

We obviously didn't get inside that one. The photos were all from EBR.

That answers the questions then.

Oh well - another QF 330 product until the makeovers... sigh
