ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

Nothing I saw mentioned anything to do with A330 upgrades. Only the 738 upgrades were mentioned. Safe to assume it is happening to the original (daft) time line.

AJ mentioned it in his speech and it's in the slides.

I did see his speech. I say "see" because the sound was turned down.

I'm looking at a flight from Per -> Mel mid December and keen to avoid the current "PE" seats if possible.

The rollout date was vague of Late Nov / Oct. They didn't actually say how long each plane would take, first up routes etc.

I was hoping they might have had more info other than to say it was on track

Why don't you check EF for an indication of the configurations on the date you were looking for. There are patterns of which flights get skybeds and those that won't get them.

If this upgrade is like every other that QF have done, I would say it will be late 2016 before you have a 'good' chance of getting the new J seat.

To quote myself, anybody anticipating getting the new J seat in the short term will be disappointed.

Looks like VA customers will be getting a new J seat before QF customers, even though QF announced the new seat about two years ago.

If anything, the QF J seat is long overdue for an upgrade, to the point that they had to spin something for a couple of years just so pax can have a little bit of hope.

I experienced the J seat on the A330 from Singapore to Melbourne last week - very uncomfortable and ruins the experience. The entertainment was also poor and limited.

It was announced in August 2013 - ie. one year from you made your post.
If the first gets rolled out in late 2014 - that is 1yr 3or 4 months.

Noting that this seat is based on the Vantage XL platform that was only launched in 2013, and I believe Qantas will be the first in service (SAS is also going to be using it). Any new design has a much longer approvals process.

Anyhow, can't wait to see it.

Any idea how different the XL is from the previous Vantage Suite platform that is currently used by numerous airlines?

Has anyone been on VH-EBB since it was returned from Jetstar?

It's been flying as Qantas for some time now.

I suspect I'm on it next Monday. The seat layout for J-class is showing as:

Row 1, AB-EF-JK
Row 2-5, AB-DF-JK
Row 6, AB---JK

All up it's 34J which is down 2 on other A332s.

So is it the same as JQi but with the middle seat in rows 2-5 blocked? Or with a workspace installed?

How does one find out whether their A330 has lay flat seats in J? Is it an EF thing? My flight tonight ex-PER is a A330-200, so I'm curious!

What does your seat map look like on the QF MMB page? That is a dead give-away with the 332's (i.e if it appears to be two mini cabins, you have skybeds).

Hmm. Looks like I may be lucky :)

Here is the seatmap. I've not seen this before on a QF A332:
