Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

Is the decision as to which QFi flights have A333s and which have A332s based on the total yield (revenue) per flight or some other consideration such as how J books, or whether aircraft need to be swapped as can occur in HKG or SIN?

QF81 out of SYD to SIN appears to be an A333 less than half the time.

QF19 to MNL has not been operated by an A333 since March 2017 from what I can see, yet it must be a route now with some business traffic. The shorter QF41 (SYD - CGK) also appears to be constantly an A332.

Granted that QF lacks sufficient A333s to operate all its non-B744 and non-A388 QFi flights, but it might be good to spread the A333s around, perhaps for instance operating them twice a week SYD - MNL (perhaps on what may be the busiest flights, Fridays and Saturdays northbound) given that passengers to SIN have a choice of two daily QF flights with QF5/QF6 the other offering (but sometimes the latter may be one of the two unrefurbished A332s normally used SYD - PEK and return.)

QF82 and QF6 out of Singapore to Sydney are the ones that I get caught out with pretty often. I can deal with the lower ratio of loos, and no duty free, but the leather seats in J for the 7 hour flight down are horrible, even with the 'mattress' cover fitted. If they could change this, I'd have no issues, either way

Cheers,
Matt.

Re: Rumour:[Denied by RR] Qantas to ban JQ SYD-MEL pax from F lounges & send to J lou

I would think it'd be more dependent on how Y books, not J, given that the J seat count is constant between the two variants (excluding the unrefurbed birds). Hence my theory 107/108 being operated by A333 occasionally if other A333 flights can be subbed with an A332 and 107/108 loads are light enough.

Would say all of the above.

Hi all ...
So, if I'm interpreting that table above correctly, does this mean that flying back from Singapore to Sydney on QF6 this August has a chance of having the new lie-flat business-class seats with the 11" inflight entertainment?
Or is it a given that it'll instead be on the un-updated A332's with the 6" screens & the slippery-dips?

Don't suppose you can take along your own iPad for IFE purposes these days, can you? I mean, getting the content from the 'plane.
[no, I don't normally fly internationally, let alone business :)]

Nothing stopping you taking your iPad but if its the old config they don't have steaming IFE and if it's new there isn't much point, except in Y on the birds that lack fixed screens, but these days these rarely see use internationally.

Re: Qantas A330 refurbishment delayed

I am booked on QF5 SYD/SIN on 27Dec17 and its still showing the 2x2x2 configuration, so QF obviously in no hurry to refurb these aircraft. Would move to another flight if seats were only available. Angle flat seats are not great.

Re: Qantas A330 refurbishment delayed

I just flew one of these SYD-PEK (I think it was EBG) and it was not great at all. Those sky-slopes are certainly showing their age. Ok for a day flight (which it was) was very happy to find out we had a refurb bird for the night flight home - MUCH better!

Re: Qantas A330 refurbishment delayed

It seems the two unrefurbished A330s will be get the new product. I just noticed the financial results press release has this tidbit:

New lounges at both ends of the landmark Perth-London route will be completed during FY18, and two remaining A330s will have their cabins upgraded following lease extensions.

No timeframe mentioned however.

Re: Qantas A330 refurbishment delayed

Already booked in for an A330-200 in economy in Dec, good to hear but no timeframe doesn't look too promising. could be years, especially based on the A380 2019 announcement

seems like they might be just saying it..

there's still the issue of room for direct flights to beijing.

My days of going to Kalgoorlie for work stopped in 1982 and Broome is not a place I like to visit. Once every decade is too often for Broome.
I still have very warm thoughts of js as he certainly fixed my travel.
I did enjoy Exmouth and drifting along in Turquoise Bay with a mask was amazing.

Does anyone know when the select few 330-200's will be refurbished to having 2 business loos and crew rest?
Has there been a seat map released?

Im looking forward to seeing the refurbishment, its a sign that QF do listen to their customers.

Cheers,

Snooze

Don't believe any plans releasrd.
AusBT article had suggested refurb was commencing in May.

VH-EBN has just returned from repainting in SIN and I'd guessed it might go into maintenance, but instead it flew pax services today.

Not sure it's a sign they listen to their customers, as much as they're going to hang around a while yet, so need to get updated instead of being ignored forever.

That said, whenever it happens, it will be a welcome update for passengers.

Refurbs aren't cheap and as I understand there was lease negotiations on these aircraft which was why they were omitted initally.

Likewise with the latest 787 announcement bringing forward the retirement of the 744ERs to 2020 (with the youngest not even being 18yrs), I'm sure we won't see a repaint or refurb of these aircraft.

From the reliable EK413 on airliners

A332 update.
•-EBA through to -EBN will be modified to incorporate WiFi and cabins of -EBG and -EBL reconfigured to the standard domestic configuration.

•-EBO through to -EBV to undergo a cabin reconfiguration which includes the addition of 1 Tech Crew Rest facility and an extra lavatory in Business Class.

EK413

-EBS becomes the first A332 to undergo international refurb, with the extra toilet in J, have also read due to the galley changes there's a reduction in Y seating capacity, still yet too see the latest seat map. Possibly 27J/238Y.

My sources are saying that once 2-3 A332's are converted to the new international configuration, either -EBG/L will be pulled from the international network and converted to domestic configuration with the latest J suits and iPads in Y.

-EBC will be the second domestic A332 to feature WiFi.

According to the crew I spoke with in May, the last 332 with the gen 1 slantbed on the BNE-NRT route went in for refurb last month. I believe it’s slated for the new business suites fit out.

Well overdue. On the flight I took the IFE failed to start for well over an hour and all seats in J lost power when a breaker went, meaning no recline, IFE or charging for a good 45-50 mins. The interiors in the old birds are falling apart.

Fingers crossed the rest of the fleet gets similar treatment going forward.
