VH-EBL back into service today, positioning BNE-SIN as QF6114 and then operating QF922 SYD-CNS

Can someone with an EF subscription check the seatmap for QF922
(PDF seatmap on QF website haven't been updated)

VH-EBW possibly replacing it in maintenance, positioning back empty as QF6004
I flew EBL this evening. Quite shiny on the inside!

EBG is the last to be done sometime in 2019

So around seven years after the original announcement. QF should follow the example of some other carriers in this situation - a $500 or $1000 cash payment at the check-in counter for those who have purchased full flats but end up with angled.

Up front or down back?
Any differences?
(Eg. Does it have the 787 style central dividers or the fixed 330 ones. Down back assume iPads. We're they later vetsions etc?)

Sorry but I was in 7K so didn’t see what was behind the curtain. Nor did I notice the type of divider for the centre two seats.

I did say it was shiny, and I am easily distracted by such things.

Just cancelled my flight because they have changed the aircraft to EBG after booking, selecting a seat in the 1-2-1 layout and paying. Would rather fly economy than pay for a skybed. Qantas was surprisingly easy to deal with. I gave them a call, they answered straight away, I explained what happened and they didn't even attempt to fight it, just gave me a full refund.

That's a positive!!

Yeah but it’s a shame. I was really looking forward to the trip.

Anyway, I won’t be booking QF business class again on the A330’s until the last plane is upgraded. It’s just not worth the risk of getting the Skybed. For $5,000 I’d expect a guaranteed product, not entering a lucky dip draw.
That's a positive!!

It would be useful if QF announced EBG was to be used domestic/NZ (or Bali) only till refurb.

Sadly I suspect they wont

They've already said it'll be used on SYD-DPS for the next 3 months - that could get extended if there's enough demand to fill the seats.

I was just going through some oldish images / screen captures and came across this:

All I can say is thank goodness for VA ...

BINGO - I seem to have snagged 3A on VH-EBG, MEL-AKL on 22/02/19...whoops! Having never flown a non-refurb, just how bad is it? Should I change to A330-300 on 21/02/19?

Significantly worse than a refurb for both sleep quality and IFE. No question, change if you can.

For MEL-AKL it's fine, you don't need to sleep, and arguably more legroom than the suite.

Better if travelling as a couple.

The date in late-Feb would suggest EBM and EBN will be converted to 27J first, with EBG finally going into refurb in id guess early March.

Many thanks moa999. Wiki above seems to suggest EBG is the last. I'm on QF157 @ 23:35ish so sleep would be nice & also a solo traveller. I did the same flight on a 737 once & said never again.

For MEL-AKL it's fine, you don't need to sleep...

I'm the opposite! For me all QF flights MEL-AKL have a good reason for having the option to sleep...

  • 0730 departure... I've been up since 0430 - time for a snooze
  • 1215 departure arriving 6pm - snooze so I can be ready to go straight out for dinner and a night out
  • 615pm departure arriving midnight - not going to get into bed before 2am - want to have a snooze to off set that
  • the red-eye - speaks for itself

EBQ out this morning operating BNE-AKL, which should be the 6th longhaul 332.

No replacement in BNE yet but might take a couple of days after weather in SYD yesterday.

While I haven't flown the equivalent Delta product, I do wonder whether further enclosing such a small space is necessarily a good thing.

I was somewhat surprised that Qantas didn't announce a new enclosed First seat for the A380, or at least modify their existing arrangement to add some kind of a door.
