ALL QF's 330's to get lay flat Business seating - Including Domestic

BA on the A380 was very good (A380). On CX is found the seat not much better than Y whereas the PE seat on QF was a lot better.

Interesting I wonder if its the same seat as on the 777 which to me was easily the worst Y+ of the lot - the tightest width, CX and QF are about the same

although I did like the bar service (2 drinks at start of meal so no delay to get another whilst being served!)

Same with customers: everyone has a different understanding/requirement of a PE. For me for example, a better seat with more space will cut it (i.e. CX PE), I don't really need the other service-related aspects. Others want it to be a "Business light" kind of offering (i.e. QF PE). Wasn't VA recently announcing to introduce 2 kinds of offerings between Y and J, i.e. an Economy Plus with just more space, and a proper PE? That would then probably serve almost everyone.

I thought CX had the worst PE seat.. i can't see how it was better to QF at all.

I didn't mean better than QF, what I meant: CX PE = better seat and more space than Y. For many that is enough to pay a reasonable premium over Y, me included. QF in my opinion has by far the best product overall, but it is pricey.

Also I do understand PE product I frequent PE quite a lot on QF (A380, 747) and CX (A330), QF 747 toilet for PE doesn;t exist its the Y toilets! although depending on the crew they normally let you use the J toilet right in front of the PE cabin..

On the 747, the toilet in front of the Y+ section at hte back of the galley area, next to self-serve snacks *is* the Y+ toilet. Or that's what I've been told and observed on my 747 flights.

I guess what we all want to know is will there be a price differential between flights with the J Suite as opposed to the current Skybed Mk I?

So you suggest Skybed I pricing stays what it is and the new J suite incurs a significant premium, both in $ and points required??

If you look at what other airlines have done when improved premium hard product has been introduced on a single fleet then there is a precedent. Cf. SQ with F suites v. standard F etc.

Our new A330 interiors will be on display in the concourse of Sydney Airport’s T3 from 12pm until 11pm today. So if you’re in the Sydney area, make sure to stop by and check it out.

QANTAS UNVEILS NEW A330 BUSINESS SUITES WITH WORLD-FIRST SEAT RECLINE FROM TAKE OFF TO LANDING

I don't believe the headline is correct. It is not the world's first reclining seat form take-off to landing. Virgin atlantic offers a seat with recline for take-off and landing and have done so for many years.

The body of the text does however clarify the point that it is the world's first that can be fitted 'with a mattress' from take-off.

A key point of difference from all other carriers is that the seat can be in recline and fitted with the mattress from take-off right through to landing.

Australian Business Traveller omits the 'world's first' claim in their article.

It looks very nice in photos, shame it wont be on display longer... I'd have loved to see it on Friday as I passed through!

is it just me or does it look like there's a droop to the bed already! must be the angle...

I believe you have to take into account the angle of attack, how planes fly with their nose pointed slightly up.

There's another photo that shows the mock-up on a slop pointed up, presumably to account for this or there'd be a slope in the other direction that people would notice.

Ah okay. But isn't SQ F Suites a separate booking class and you are basically guaranteed this product?

I thought you mean two different fares concurrently on the same route, i.e. $X for the 3pm SYD-PER flight that has the Skybed MkI, and $X+Premium for the 5pm flight that has the new seat. That wouldn't work simply due to fleet rotation and last-minute changes.

It's solely the 'too highly paid cabin crew'?

Qantas has approximately 30,000 employees, so if we assume they have an average of $200k salary each, and then replace them with free child labour, the airline would just barely break even last year (ignoring the fleet write down).
