Older JQ or JQ same as EBO JQ?

Shows you how silly it is having 4 (possibly) 5 different configs for the 332's.

I'm new to qantas and totally bamboozled to why they so many configs, it makes you have no idea what you are actually booking, but its good to hear that they will be fixing that soon and have a uniform product.

There are currently 4 types of 332's in the QF fleet
1) Skybeds 2)EBM/N 3)EBO onwards and 4) The older 332's returning from JQ.

Although this site doesn't list the 4th type, QANTAS Seat Maps is a good source of information regarding the pros and cons of each type.
If you want to check the 4th config out, replace qantas with jetstar in the URL and it is the 38J265Y version.

You just have to look at the 767's and 747's previously as to the number of different configurations that QF have run with in the past.

I agree, armchair experts everywhere

no. We're actual customers.

We are the reason QF flies. I don't think it's unreasonable to ask for the products we want.

And when you start asking for my tax payer money to guarantee your business, that all of a sudden gives me even more of an interest in how they operate.

EBL has been out of action for nearly a month now at BNE. Co-incidence or first cab off the rank?

The approach is right, but if not rolled out quickly across the entire 330 fleet it only adds a 5th config for to the mix.

Where are you getting 6 in 9 months? They have said 6 by March and 12 by mid year. That's pretty quick in my books.

Qantas has not asked you
Qantas has not received any public money

Qantas asks us everyday to fly with them. Through advertising. And FF offers. Far from being 'armchair experts' as suggested in the post to which i was responding, we are the customer. We are the most important thing they have. And we have a right to ask for what we want. Whether or not QF responds is up to them. But look at their bottom line.

Qantas asked for public money, but they didn't receive it. They would have taken it if they could.

That aside, their constant asking has taken up politicians' time, parliamentary time, and a considerable amount of public servants' time. All that time costs money (that we pay for) and could have been spent on other issues.

If we are paying for all of that I feel I have the right to input. Some may not, but each to their own.

Oops, apologies you're right, I mixed that up somehow. Yes that is rather quick if they really go at that pace, but time will tell. I've edited my post above.

Actually they didn't ask for a cent of public money. They asked for a loan guarantee on new debt up to $3bn for a period of 1 year whilst the Qantas sale act was modified.

As for wasting politician and public service time how exactly do you think government and big business work? Lobbying, which is what Qantas is doing is common and accepted practice at ALL levels of government.

same same. they asked for public money to guarantee them. A request that might have been unnecessary if they had made a profit. Why didn't the make a profit? nothing to do with any business decisions I suppose. It's solely the 'too highly paid cabin crew'?

So all businesses lobby government. That's ok, but it still costs us, the taxpayers, money while they do it.

PE on CX is fine on the 330, sure itd be nice to have its own loo but it's not really an impost walking 4 rows back and there is rarely any wait time... (plus the 77W product will soon be available ex-SYD anyway which will be good).

I found CX PE sub par on their A330.. easily last against QF and BA..

I have no experience of the BA product and I would agree that the service and soft product on QF is better, but IMO the CX seat is just as comfortable and spacious as the QF offering.

BA on the A380 was very good (A380). On CX is found the seat not much better than Y whereas the PE seat on QF was a lot better.

So either fly with them or don't!

They have no doubt crunched the numbers and PE didn't stack up for them for the A330's or they would have done it

Pretty simple really

The problem of course is different airlines have different views of what PE is. Some use the same seats with better meals, some have better seats and better meals (Qantas), some have better seats and basically the same meals as economy.

Same with customers: everyone has a different understanding/requirement of a PE. For me for example, a better seat with more space will cut it (i.e. CX PE), I don't really need the other service-related aspects. Others want it to be a "Business light" kind of offering (i.e. QF PE). Wasn't VA recently announcing to introduce 2 kinds of offerings between Y and J, i.e. an Economy Plus with just more space, and a proper PE? That would then probably serve almost everyone.

The 'or don't' is the problem. Not enough people are flying them at the right fares and they are making a loss.

Who knows what research they have done into PE. Looking at some of their other decisions, I'm not sure how robust the research was.
