Thanks to seritonin for his referral link, I am happy to say I was accepted for the card and would like to offer my referral link to those still thinking about applying before the offer ends tomorrow night, January 30th.

The Explorer is the best card on the market at present, with a sign up bonus of 110,000 points available, only through a referral.
I receive 20,000 points if your application is successful, which are vital to me maintaining a long-distance relationship with my fiancée between Australia and the UK!

The annual fee of $395 is more than offset by the $400 credit with amex travel.

Referral link is here: http://amex.com.au/refer/maritoxN8o

Last day to get on this great deal! Get on the 110 000 MR points before the deal runs out (You get 10K extra points as I get 20K points too for your generosity). Approval is pretty quick depending on your financial status and the card comes in a nice pack with a few books within a few days. Personally I am looking to hook this up with an affiliate Platinum Edge card in the near future to make use of both the Gateway and Ascent programs and gain the better airline transfer rates (1:1 FF points transfer is possible). Virgin Velocity, Asia Miles and Krisflyer Miles are just some of the popular reward programs people are transferring too. I recommend people do the same! That or enjoy free business class flights return to Asia plus use your $400 travel credit on hotels for a very comfortable stay. Get in before they close the 'loophole'.

Other benefits include AMEX Connect which offers the occasional deal on shopping/restaurants/gift cards. Also I got an introductory spend $30 get $10 back at Woolworths which you might be able to use on a WISH gift card (33% off). Use them to buy EFTPOS cards at Woolworths ($88 with no purchase fee until Tuesday) and get your minimum $1500 spend whilst gaining points very quickly to redeem your introductory bonus points.

Be quick!

PS: - thanks to kamchatsky for the initial referral, hope you enjoy the points too.

Re: AMEX Explorer referral

I used a referral link in this thread, probably NoName's link posted on 19/1. Hope the referral bonus went through!

just got my card today. Hope there is need by someone who wanted a last minute referral link here:
http://amex.com.au/refer/xg81l

You get 110k MR gateway points and I get 20k referral bonus.

As a datapoint, I was holding a gold credit card that is in Ascent. This gold card was originally the BMW gold. I thought it was moved to gateway a while ago, so I am surprised it is in Ascent when I checked last week. Anyway, my explorer came automatically linked to Ascent. Just called to de-link and hope things go well.

Thank you very much! I hope you enjoy the bonus points, as well as future referrals!

thanks to whoever used my referral link on 29/01 :D
just got my 20k points overnight...

must be karma paying me back for giving away 36k enrich points for MH lounge vouchers to members here :D

NOTE: This is now up to 100,000 points!

My updated referral link here:

https://www316.americanexpress.com/...&mgmerSource=mgmerHub&MGMURN=AAAFAgUbHxcdDw==

Looks like all of the benefits of the original offering (except the 110,000 points):

100,000 points by using a referral link to sign up (30,000 points for me if you use my referral link and you may get around the 18 month exclusion period by using a referral link).

$400 AMEX travel credit each year.

2 points per dollar.

So many places to transfer your points - like SPG and Velocity.

Still at the $395 annual fee - so cost neutral if you take into account the $400 AMEX travel credit.

Revised offer appears to end May 15, 2017.

Good get Ralph.. but I can only see 100,000 as the bonus sign up, not 110,000?

Either way - its great news for those who may not have this card yet.

2 Gateway Points per $1 spent (4:3 conversion to most airlines, not QF though)
$395 Annual Fee
$400 Annual Travel Credit to use on Amex Travel
100,000 Bonus Points on Sign up with minimum spend of $1500 in first 3 monts

http://amex.com.au/refer/lucyfimyG

Full disclosure: If you use my link, I also get 30,000 Bonus points for referring, and much gratitude that you're helping out Mrs tizey & I's honeymoon plans.

Agree, looks like it is 100,000 points. But better than the 80,000 it has been for the past few months.

The bonus is up to 100,000 Gateway points not 110,000 unfortunately.

The sign on bonus of 100,000 is the same as if you were to apply directly, however I believe being referred may get around the issue of getting the bonus points as an existing card holder?? Correct me if this is not correct. As Tizey mentions referrers now get 30,000 points.

I started a new thread before I saw Dr Ralph's post.

It seems like people using the referral link wouldn't be getting an extra bonus?
Annual Fee
$395 p.a.
Must spend $1500 within first 3 months to get a bonus of 100,000pts
2 Membership Rewards points for every $1 spent on eligible purchases
Smartphone Screen Insurance for up to $500 for screen repairs to your Smartphone when you pay for your phone or contract with your American Express Explorer[SUP]TM[/SUP] Credit Card[SUP]5[/SUP]

Please use my referral link I will receive 30,000 points. Make sure you call up to get them to switch your rewards program to gateway (if you already have an amex with ascent) before you spend $1500 otherwise you will not receive the bonus pts.

Thanks

What a great card is what I think people should be hearing. Good to see an increase in the points for new sign ups.

I've had this card for around 5 months now. Very good earning rate.

100,000 points if you use my referral link:

http://amex.com.au/refer/angelb8DPY

I will get 30,000 points. What do you get? Well I can tell you that when I have used referral inks in the past AMEX has not imposed the 18 month exclusion period. When I didn't use a referral link I didn't get the points. Of course YMMV.

Re: Your Karma balance will reward you too. AMEX best offer IMO.
