Did you decide to apply for the Platinum with no bonus or was it signed up by P2 for platinum (to get the 150k/225k bonus) and you were added as a supplementary/additional user?

I signed up for my Platinum with no bonus with the intention of cancelling the Explorer before the next AF was posted. I wonder if they will give me another offer next year as I have moved all spending to my Platinum.

Called, annual fee is due in about a fortnight (wasn't exactly sure of the date, but later realised it's the same date as the charge of the previous year - not when the card account is opened/activated).
Asked about the $450 travel credit and if another one is given next year, they advised no - it's just a one-off welcome offer.
I then asked to cancel, the same guy put me on hold and went to "process a review".
Came back saying that no points could be offered, but he would try again in a week and call me back.

Called to cancel. No offer.
Cancelled, then while on hold changed my mind.
Asked to reinstate, again no points offer.
QBR card.
I'll keep because having a charge card with no "limit" is quite handy.

Not offered any retention on cancelling Plat Charge Biz. Maybe its only for personal plat cards.

When asking for a retention offer, does it look stupid if there are heaps of points in your account? Will they just think, they won't cancel as they have so many points? I have to call up this week about my plat charge.

Should I call before or after the fee posts? I assume it doesn't make a difference a few days either side

You have 30 days after cancelling to transfer your points out so not completely ridiculous.

I have done the dance with 650k MR vs 150k MR and it made no difference.

Thanks. I put a lot of spent on the card over the past 12 months ($1m+), but I get charged merchant fees for about 40% of it

I called after hours so the rep didn't offer anything as he was from personal card space. I called again today and was offered 100k by biz rep, but I politely refused and canceled the card. Have already extracted max value that I could - used 3 dell $125 offer and 2 free accor night by paying one year fee which was half at 875 instead of full 1750.

I've been really lazy in getting around to doing this. My $1450 annual fee was charged in February but I've just called to cancel this afternoon and got offered 70k points. Spend is 70k/month. Pretty underwhelming offer but better than nothing.

Called requesting cancel. Asked why said fees too high and lack value if not using travel perks.

After cancel completed offered 50k pts. Which I declined. Then offered downgrade to gold charge. Declined etc.

Went through the process and in the final step, got told that no points are offered at the moment.
