If you mean this card https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/credit-cards/low-fee/student.html then that is not a diamond card. and that is the only 'student' card comm bank do.

This is the diamond card you need https://www.commbank.com.au/personal/credit-cards/awards/diamond.html which has a yearly fee of $400, though if you have this card as a uni student (often means no annual fee) please share how you got it as i would be intrested

I didn't apply for it. As the Diamond card was launched (2011 i think?), they offered it as a free upgrade with the same annual fee as my then commbank platinum awards, so I took it. No secret really.

A friend took this pic today. He reckons it's quite small but he was the only guest in the lounge up to his boarding time so no complaint there. No doubt it'll be busier when more people know about it.

Bring guest in with you....

Does this mean that if you do not have one of these cards: American Express Centurion, American Express Platinum, American Express Business Centurion and American Express Business Platinum Card Members, you can bring in ONE guest with you, and that is it for your 2 entries for that year?

Appears so.
Our son has a Westpac Black Amex, is flying Virgin to Samoa a few days after Christmas and will guest his travel companion in.
So that's his two visits for the year ending 31 December ;).

2. Access to The American Express Lounge

(a) American Express Centurion, American Express Platinum, American Express Business Centurion and American Express Business Platinum Card Members, have unlimited complimentary access to The American Express Lounge for each American Express Card account and are entitled to bring their children between the ages of 2-17 and up to 2 guests into the lounge. Card Members wishing to bring additional guests will be subject to a charge that is to be processed on the Card Member’s American Express Card

So up to two guests is without charge. How much is charged for additional guests?

Couple more shots that might help people. Used for about 30min whilst waiting for D7221 (Air Asia X to KL - a packed flight on Christmas day night)

Lounge is quite nice with lots of old Amex paraphanalia on the wall. Two beers by tap and Hendricks is the house gin (nice). Food selection is small but adequate with a selection of hot and cold dishes.

Staff are shared between the downstairs SkyTeam and upstair Amex lounge. Bartender said the Skyteam lounge is very busy in the morning but quiet at night. Amex lounge is consistent (10 ppl across 4 groups when I went through).

Cheat card on front desk.

Thanks MarcoPolo, that's what I thought, but just wanted to check with the brains trust, fingers firmly crossed in the process.

How would you rate it in comparison to the QF business lounge? Ie, you had the choice of both, which would you go to?

To the First Lounge no comparison.

To the Business Lounge I suspect QF has better food but the more boutique size and bartender does help the Amex lounge

AMEX - the joy of turning left ...

The old F lounge was a decent lounge for its time....will need to drop in and enjoy the memories.
